Useful Features Eliminated?

Before I proceed with the TS15 update install, would like to know:

1. One user on another forum reported that he can no longer use any driving controls when he is in the #8 view. If true, that would eliminate the ability to fly ahead to the next station and “railfan” on the platform while you bring your train in for a stop. Also could make freight shunting, switching, etc., more difficult.

2. While watching a video tutorial about TS15, I could not see the Simple/Expert control switch on the Main Menu. Has this switch and ability been eliminated, moved to a different location or am I just blind?

Thanks folks for any info.

Controls in 8 view work as they always have - no problems there whatsoever.

Edited to remove incorrect info

Simple and expert control are still there in the Settings. It is also controlable from a scenario. You can force someone to use simple or expert.

Just found it - Settings->Gameplay as opposed to Settings->Control

Bless you both!! *!greengrin!* I'd really miss those functions.

As for the Simple/Expert switch, I'm guilty of liking to admire the very nice graphics on some routes, but it can be hard to do if you can't drive a particular loco in Simple mode and get out of the cab to see it all. With a few locos, you have to be in the cab and listening for the Alerter, watching cab signals, etc., to keep them going when in Expert mode. An issue in TS14 with the electrics on routes like NEC NY-NH, which has amazing graphics.

Thanks to you both for the quick replies. Much appreciated - especially since you told me what I wanted to hear. !*salute*!

How can I compare Career scores without loading a scenario and quitting it?

And the first off-topic message in this thread award goes to . . . "tycoonkid9" (there are actually 8 others who selected this moniker?)-

Your not crazy. I fired up my backup of TS 2014 and sure enough there is a Expert/Simple button on the main driving window, where a person can choose Resume, Standard, Free Raom etc.
It's in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
I tried to take a snip or screen shot of it, but can't do that from the backup and full screen mode.

Exactly Ericmopar.

I did finally install TS15 yesterday (I've never been accused of being a trail blazer) and found the Simple/Expert option in the settings as correctly pointed out by the above posters. I haven't played with TS15 enough yet to judge whether it's better, worse or the same having it relocated there.

And as also mentioned above, I do still have full operation of controls in the #8 view. I guess the no-controls problem mentioned over on train-sim dot com was just the original poster's issue only.

Thanks for your reply.
