My thoughts on VRC's products being discontinued

Unread postby ColoradoRailfan » Mon May 15, 2017 9:23 am

I was really stressed when I heard that Jerry was discontinuing their older products. Especially the C30-7 packs. I really wanted to buy the BN C30-7, it was always on my wish list and was gonna buy it, I have always been a big fan of BN, and their C30-7's pulling 120+ car coal trains. But on that same week I was gonna buy it, it was removed from the store. I know DTM is releasing their version of the C30-7, but in all honesty, I rather have the VRC version for multiple reasons. I tried to message Jerry via PM, but no response. What I dont get is why Jerry would take the pack down after having it released for only a couple months. I only wanted to express myself, and hope to know some would have the same feeling and some would understand. I see no one has a video on it, and no one has pictures of it in railworks. If Jerry were to put the pack back up, I can guarantee you that I would buy it again.

Jerry is on vaca and off the grid until he returns. End of this week I think. Additionally the C30-7 is available from DTG. $19.99 in CSX livery.

I believe it had something to do with not being able to manage customer support while modeling at the same time. Nonetheless, it's still sad to see those products go. I really planned on buying everything his store had to offer.

It was more than that. The sales dried up and the storefront (not the static site) was costing money. VRC will only sell through DTG/Steam now.

I wouldnt mind just paying money through Paypal for the locomotive, VRC has some really nice content. Also I don't plan on buying the CSX version just yet.

For benefit of those who are not on 'the facebooks'.

Ok, let me once again reiterate that we no longer have direct sales from our web page, choosing instead to publish our available products through Dovetail Games / Steam.

If you were holding out for whatever reason to buy the GP40-2, GP59, GP40-2 Undecorated, or the VRC variations of the U30C and C30-7 (BN, CBQ, SP, ATSF, SPSF), then you waited to late. Please do not send us emails asking us to sell these items to you or give them away. They are no longer available.

Well that's unfortunate, pretty disappointed in the fact that he wouldn't want money from those products, from what I'm assuming, and why doesn't he put the BN and ATSF C30-7's on steam then?

Let's be patient and give him a chance to work through everything.

Short and to the point :)

In my neighborhood there was a nice bookstore selling used books.
Sales were going down so they had to close. Suddenly there was a public outcry, nostalgic features in the papers, people crying over spilled milk.
The owner could only say "Well if you liked it so much why didn't you buy books?".

I was fortunate enough to only be missing two items so my disappointment is confined to having seen the initial announcement that sales would end on Friday of that week, planning to buy them then, and ultimately for that post to be removed and sales stopped immediately.

Or, ...

we could...

assume that as a capable adult he's already "worked through everything", and...

consider an offer that he could accept without having to spend money on a market stall, or waste time tending it.

I have in mind a licensed distributor arrangement, with some noble soul(s) collecting orders over a period and then setting up a single exchange with Jerry of so much money for so many licences for this product and that, the selection being confined to those items not ear-marked for other distributors (such as DTG). The distributor would gain kudos (but little else), Jerry would gain dollars, and the fans (assuming there are enough willing buyers) would gain TOYS.

Personally, I regret missing out on 'the unpainted one' and would offer an order for that BUT, nice as Jerry's kit is, I'm not prepared to take on the middleman role (assuming that a 'bulk dollars for bulk purchases' deal did appeal to Jerry).

Is anyone else prepared to take on the role?

Kind regards,

John M

DTG is not interested in them. We have offered all our workers DTG including the GP40.

Also keep in mind that BNSF has restricted their license (non grandfathered) to North America.

There are plenty of threads about this here is you search for it.
