Ehhhhh, yeah, but crapper bags are just so uninteresting. And i'm not sure that statement is entirely true. Most diesel locomotives have always had toilets. It just might be a matter of preference whether you used it or not. I've read that some of the old Southern folks say they were so cramped and disgusting that you would rather wait for the next siding and take your business to the woods.
EDIT: After writing this post, I did a little reading around and came up with it was
after the NW / Southern merger than NS came up with the crapper bag system. And it wasn't an astronauts bag that you tape to your butt. It was a toilet seat on a stand with a baggie fitted on it, like a garbage bag in a can. Gawd I can think of about a thousand ways this can go wrong.
