Coupling Problem when using Steam from outside RW&A

I have actually been having brake and coupler issues when trying to use non RW&A steam.
The first problem was with my RSC Chanllenger. Release the brakes and get explosive forward motion that leads to derailment. This does not happen with the ore cars, just the reefers and box cars. (I haven't tried the other stock)
The other problem is using Dicks Heavy Mikado. That one is not firing in The RW&A and also has coupling issues. It couples at the front of the engine but not the tender end.
These engines are working just fine when I use them on other routes like Donner and Cajon, including with RW&A stock on those routes, so I'm stumped.
I told Dick what was happening, but I'm starting to think it's something with the route itself.
I already reinstalled it more than once. Maybe I should say "them" being the locos and RW&A.

Almost forgot, I'm also having firing issues manual and automatic. (Mikado not Challenger)

I just tried it with the Mountain and it worked just fine. Pickle cars away!

Do you have Dicks Heavy Mikado Buzz? Try that if you have it. Use one of the oil tenders.

I found out the firing issue is the oil tenders, not the coal tenders and it is affecting other routes. When a oil tender is fitted, the Mikado can't stoke up the fire mass.
I just had trouble coupling in Donner Pass, it must be that loco's tender pack that comes with it.

If you read my post over on Dick's thread you'll see that there are problems. I am just wondering if it's possible that there are too many tenders conflicting with each other in some cases. We have USRA tenders and just plain tenders and tenders in locomotives. I wonder if we are confusing the game engine?

Just tested in RWA at Waterton with the 2-8-2H and the tender right under the loco's on the list and it coupled with the box cars on the last track.

The heavies are listed then the light ones and then a USRA 2-8-2 Tender

I'm not getting consistent results during testing. The only consistant one being the oil tender issue.

BTW. Some of those tenders have an issue with reversing part of the numbers and the trucks sometimes turn the wrong way in a corner on those. Could that be a geometry issue somewhere that could tinker with the coupler pocket?
I'm just throwing ideas out there, but when it comes to textures and geometry ID's I know squat. *!greengrin!*

Since we know it isn't the RW&A at this point, maybe we should merge the threads or close this one?

Eric.
