Not easy to repaint, there are some details I could not find to repaint so (shirker) I gave up.

Not a lot of pictures of SP AS-616s in the wild. They used a lot of these in the Roseville yard. Donner Pass route.

John:
Funny thing I started trying to make A DSS&A unit out of the UP Version. I know what You mean about a couple textures are mysteries. Interesting that they made the "Hockey Stick" Soo version of that unit, but those Units were DSS&A Units. Soo never had their own, but inherited them in the 1960 Merger. I know that Buzz will come-up with a solution. *!!wink!!* Take Care Stefan

I plan to reach out to them directly however this thing is a mapping mess to the point I will not buy future products if they don't clean up their act making these things almost impossible to re-paint.
After surrendering trying to help out a friend to do a CNW paint I saw that C&O had some of these locos which were a solid color so I thought surely this would work. Somehow the model want's to look at the original model no matter what I try to do as far as the decal (decais) goes. The GeoPcDx does not indicate that. Boo. !!**sorry**!!

I had exactly the same problem but thought it was me. All of the Diesel Workshop models have their repaint difficulties but this is another level. I have emailed suggesting more liveries for the model and CNW and C&O were among them. No response yet. There may be a health issue as the GP7 progress has had no progress recently. Just hope the GP7 when it comes is more repaint friendly.
