RW Plug-in for 3DS Max

Unread postby Roadmaster259 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 3:37 pm

I seem to be having some trouble with the plug-in for 3DS Max found in the dev\Maxplugins folder of the parent Railworks folder. I selected the latest plugin, RWMaxPlugin2015_x64, and placed it in the stdplugins folder in the 3ds Max 2017 program folder. I am running a 64 bit version of 3DS Max. Yet, it will not load. I get the following error message:

"DLL <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2017\stdplugs\RWMaxPlugin2015_64.dlu> failed to initialize.
Error code 127 - The specified procedure could not be found."

I have no idea what this means or where I went wrong. Could someone please steer me in the right direction? Thank you.

That sounds like the right folder, but I have no idea why you are getting an error. You might try verifying your TS2017 install through steam to make certain you are getting a good copy of the file. If you reinstall make sure you delete the old file first. The name of the file is RWMaxPlugin2015_x64.dlu. I know this doesn't help much, but I had not problem with the file install. I am also using Windows 10.

The currently available Max plugin will only load in Max 2015 or Max 2016, it needs to be recompiled by DTG for Max 2017.

That would most certainly explain the issue. I guess I'll just have to wait until DTG gets it done.
Thank you for the information, my friends.

I had a similar issue and contacted DTG....and they said that they weren't going to release a plugin for 3ds 2017...and advised me to use a different version of 3ds! I can get an Oem version.....but is that a legal copy? Don't want to break any laws.

!*brav*! New, updated RW Plugins are now located in the latest version of RailWorks. Those of us who are using RW on Steam will find that they have automatically been added to the Developer Documents folder.

That's not really a new news item as this has been happening for several versions now, but thanks for the update.
