Tehachapi Pass UP AC4400CW Horn Files Location

Unread postby dr1980 » Mon Nov 29, 2021 9:01 pm

Hello, can anyone tell me where I would find the files that are referenced for the horn/bell on this locomotive? I swapped out all of the horns I could find in the route folders (and the separate BNSF ES44 folder) but this one is still playing a default horn sound.

Thanks!

I would imagine that horn and engine sounds are in the Audio folder for each locomotive, have you extracted all of the files from the relevant .AP files for the route and the locomotive?

Thanks Steve, I have. Swapping out the horn sounds in all of the typical locations does not seem to capture the UP AC4400CW. i must be missing something silly I just can't figure out what.

Did you look in the actual loco bin file to make sure it's using the horn that you think it is? Sometimes the person who made the bin refers it to somewhere other than where we think it would be.

Thanks Buzz, I’m not too familiar with the bin file structures but I’ll poke around and see what I can find.

The main one I think you need to swap out for the one that's in the Tehachapi Assets is the Horn Sound Bin in the Audio folder Cab. As far as the BNSF one I'll go look at that now.

Thanks Buzz, I found it in the .bin file and it was indeed in a pretty obscure place:

RailWorks\Assets\DTG\Tehachapi\RailVehicles\Diesel\AC4400\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\AC4400\Exterior

Buried under a few extra folder layers in railvehicles instead of the usual audio high level folder. All good now! The BNSF one is more or less where I would expect it to be other tan it being in a separate ES44AC folder outside of the Tehachapi folder:

RailWorks\Assets\DTG\ES44AC_BNSF\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44DC\Diesel\ES44\Cab

Thanks again
