Hi Everyone I got A question Regarding to the G-Trax GP-40's and SD40's. I really like the Real GP-38 Sounds that you have on here. They sound better then the G-Grax sounds. Is there anyway That I can switch the sounds over so that the G-Trax Loco's have the GP-38 Sounds?

Stop right there young man! !!bang!!

You do realize that the GP38 has a 567 engine, vs the 645 of the GP/SD40, and makes a noticeably different sound?

Check out the SD-40 sounds on this page. You might be able to adapt them the GP40.

Jerry. The GP38 also has a 645.
The differences are:
GP/SD38s: 16-645E
GP/SD40s: 16-645E3x
3x denotating the type of turbo charger
There were 3As (DD40/GP40) 3B (GP50) and 3C (40-2s)
The standard 645E (E is the block letter, ABC was 567s, D was revision of the 567 for Turbo charging and more horsepower, E was 645 standard, F being the more horsepower verison (GP50s), and G being 710s.) is non turbocharged.

I'm a bit late to this one, but the main thing is this, the GP38 is non turbo charged and sounds totally different than the turbo charged SD/GP 40s.

Traditionally, the EMD model numbers ending in 0 are turbocharged, while the others are non turbo charged. This is changing with some of the new stuff from EMD/Caterpillar. Some of the new engines are sounding a lot like a GE product.

Not quite.
39-49-59-89 were all turbo charged so that rule doesn't work out.
Also, you have the GP35, which was also turbocharged.

Nutz, I got that wrong. It was anything other than GP9 and SD9 that had a model number ending in 8, that were roots blown. This isn't including all the variations of F units and other early road engines and switchers from EMD that were roots blown.

The 40's series (38, 39, 40, and 45) all use the 645. The thing is is that the SD38 and GP38 use the 645E. Whereas the 39/40/45 use the 645E3. The last locomotives to use the 567 was the GP35 and the SD35. That engine block was a 567D3A. However, the 567D did have 645 power assemblies. Correct me if I'm wrong about that
