Editing Idle Sounds to Match RPM's

Unread postby Amtrakker » Wed Jan 07, 2015 5:47 pm

I have a technical question that hopefully can be answered.

Is there a way to change the idle speed at which a sound plays? It's hard to explain, but here's an example... Say a diesel engine (In my case, the P42DC) idles at around 315 rpm in-game. At 315, the idle sound plays normally like it should. What I'm wondering is, would it be possible to change the idle speed at which the idle sound centers at? So in this case, getting the idle speed to play normally at say 200 rpm or 400 rpm? Otherwise, the idle sound is distorted at different speeds, like at 200 rpm it sounds really slow and quiet, while at 400 rpm it sounds much faster than normal... Hopefully that makes sense. !*don-know!*
Any Help is much appreciated.

RPMs are literally a useless controller in Railworks regardless. The only use is for programming sound, as you can only edit the min rpm and max rpm, the game linearly deciphers what RPM to put the engine at. While in reality this isn't the case. For example a Dash 9 runs like the following:
330 Idle
717 (Engine Warming Idle)
440 High Idle/Notch 1
577 Notch 2
717 Notch 3-5
993 Notch 5-7
1048 Notch 8.

You can set that idle speed to sound the same at 200 or 400. In the proxyxml, the pitch controller for idle would be where the editing would be done.

My dear friend Anthony is mistaken in saying this. You can set that idle speed to sound the same at 200 or 400. In the proxyxml, the pitch controller for idle would be where the editing would be done.

Well lookit that... Changed the idle rpm's around a bit and now it works. Awesome! *!!thnx!!*
