Seems to work if you remove the "read only" in properties (right click on .bin file).

Hi Rod,

If you unpacked the .ap file with RW_Tools Find all .ap files/Unpack selected .ap files using 7zip then the .bin files should have been made read/write automatically.

Hi Mike,

I usually unpack direct with 7zip. Does unpacking through RW Tools throw in an extra read/write stage with 7zip?

i'm always messing with these .ap archives

whta is correct way to unpack it - to the same directory (option "extract here" in 7zip), or to sub-level directory (option "extract to xxxx")?
for example:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\P42Pack01
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\P42Pack01\P42Pack01Assets
?

where P42Pack01Assets.ap is name of the archive

The first one. When you extract it then the contents of the folder should show up looking like it normally would and the .ap will still be there in the folder at the bottom. If this isn't clear and you need a picture just holler.

Just to clarify the correct information given above - to unpack the .ap files:-

1. Run RW_Tools and go to Files/Find all .ap files

2. Select the .ap file you wish to unpack on the list which appears (note for many routes there will be a MainContent.ap, possibly an Assets.ap pack and in some cases additional Scenario .ap files - depending upon what you are intending to do, you will probably need to unpack at least the Assets and Scenario packs.

3. Click the 'Unpack selected files with 7zip' button and in most cases leave the next window which opens at 'Unpack .ap overwriting all destination files if they exist'

4. Click OK and all the contents will be unpacked into their correct folders and all files will be made Read/Write

5. At this point you should be able to manipulate all of the files as you would have in TS2013 etc.

To all my Railroad sim friends,

I just want to take a moment to say thank you to those who help us who are not so computer literate. I was able to figure out how to get Stevens Pass to show up in RW thanks to patient instruction. It really does make TS 2015 much more enjoyable.
