Named Marker Files

Unread postby emdsd90mac » Fri Jun 06, 2014 9:16 pm

Hello and good day to you all. I have a question about "Named Marker" and that question is once you "Set Markers from World Editor" to get your named markers into the editor, where are they saved at? I can't seem to find them. Also, does anyone know why you cannot add to these as in come back at a later and add more marker? I was able to get 2 of my markers to show up, but when I go back to add more they do not show up in the list of available markers to "tele-port" to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your markers are saved in the Assets file you use to store your route. e.g. in my case, Assets\MikeSimpson\Borders\RouteMarkers your route template would then be in Assets\MikeSimpson\Borders\TemplateRoutes

You may have as many marker files as you like in the RouteMarkers file, and in the case of named markers you can edit the place-names if you wish. The following is the beginning of one of my files named TweedSideNames.dcsv

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cCSVArray xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0" d:id="1240024">

It seems that using RW tools to place marker files from the world editor is a one shot deal. I had about half of my markers in the DE&L and I have been using these to run free roams to test the track work etc. I just finished the main line track, and wanted to add the rest of the markers for the route. RW tools does not add the new marker files to the ones already there. It just created another Bin and dcsv file. So I had to delete all my scenarios remove the Bin and dcsv files combine all my markers and re enter them with RW tools. Now I have one Bin and 1 dcsv file with all the markers. And they all show up in the route..

Question from a guy who knows S(%$ from shinola about this. Is that the markers that gives you the ability to start from these spots to create scenarios? I have a guy working on a route that when you go to the build section it only shows the route origin.

Yes that is what I am talking about, If you go into your route write down all your Lon & Lat. at all the places you want to be able to create scenarios then use the RW tools set marker files from world editor.

I had the same problem (one-time shot) and even tried to edit the files manually with no success.
Best thing to do is try the other RW-Tools options and import the markers from external sources such as Google Earth (I can't remember what the choices are).

The way to do it easily is to set RW for a window , then run RW tools and RW (TS 2014) at the same time. Set up RW tools to start making the GPS marker files, then fly around your route and copy and paste the lon and lats from TS to RW tools and enter a name as you go. I do it that way then the places are all in sequential order like they are on the route, makes it easier to know where you are while starting a new scenario.

The marker files have to be in the assets/provider/product structure of the route where the routetemplates and other route specific items are. I am not sure sitting here at work which file will reference the marker file though.
