The Pere Marquette Berkshire is online

Unread postby artimrj » Mon May 26, 2014 8:34 am

If you go back to the RW&A Lakeside route page you will find some additional links/buttons to download the Berk, Buzz's F7 and Harry's rolling stock repaints. The repaints are also in the file library but I think putting them with the route will make things more organized. The Berk is not in the file library as it was supposed to be part of the route as a DLC. It also comes with 3 new scenarios for it.

Are you sure that this route still costs only $15? It's like having bought Christmas! Thanks for the additional rolling stock and scenarios; and especially to Harry Adkins for his installation instructions (copying and pasting a few files): they're so well explained even I could follow them.

I have another dozen of scenarios to post too. More are on the way...

And Tom, there is a general donations button out there if you feel the urge to pay more *!!wink!!*

I figure at $15 the route would sell enough to pay for this place for a few years. I had figured on the Berk being another $10, but the route will take care of us I think. I just want to pay for the site so it can stay free, I have my own retirement fund, don't need to supplement it with my hobby. I love this stuff as much as you guys. Maybe more since I put up with all of you *!twisted!*

Quick question: the RWA Donationware Rollingstock 2014 package contains items in the R&WA livery; is that an earlier version of the RW&A Lakside livery?

The old donations package was originally intended for a different railroad. The R&WA was supposed to be somewhere in Pennsylvania, the RW&A is somewhere in the Great Lakes region (it's all in the ampersand !*roll-laugh*! ). Ed, Dick, I and some other fellow RWA members tried to kickstart a community route project for the R&WA with that equipment, but the idea didn't really catch on so there's only the rolling stock pack and a veriety of great repaints for it now.

This is however only the technical (real-world) explanation. I quite like the idea of a 'larger' RWA railroad, with old and new paint schemes maybe or with two regional branches that have different paint schemes.

I think it would be a newer one. It is greenish. Would the NW2 be newer than the RS-1?

According to wikipedia, the NW2 was produced 1939-1949 and the RS1 1941-1960.

I was never a fan of the RWA green and yellow paint scheme.
The NW2 would look good in the RW&A scheme though.
It is a nice little engine, with an improved cab it would be perfect.

My car is offended now !DUH!

let's see... I do not allow cigarettes in my car, I do not serve drinks, I only play Dutch music very loud, I always drive with the temperature up to 120F and the windows closed, I got my drivers license free with a package of butter, there is an opening in the floor to put your feet down when we need to brake and I do not stop for animals, old ladies or police cars. And best of all, I only charge $15 per mile. In other words there is not much difference between my car and a Megabus trip.

there is an opening in the floor [of my car]

Reminds me of the first time I visited China in the mid-80s. During the visit I took an overnight train from Beijing to what amounts to a small town over there (population of only 2 million). The sleeper car I rode in was reasonably comfortable. The toilet room in that car also had a hole in the floor.

I went on a train tour from Chicago to Rennnseler then NYC, the DC then came back through Pittsburgh on to Chicago. Was on it for a week. We were in a refurbished business car. In the shower you could see the ties going by looking down the train. The toilet had that blue stuff in it.

A hole in the floor is the toilet in China.
