Route Name Contest

Unread postby ricksan » Mon Jan 06, 2014 9:13 am

The working title of this route is "The Lakeside Line." That's an obvious choice considering the locale:

RS-1_dock.jpg

But that's only its nickname. The railroad needs a true name to put on its rolling stock and buildings, not to mention on its business letterhead. That's where you come in. We invite you to submit names for this railroad right here.

The only rule is the route name must be in the format RWA, R&WA or RW&A. Yep. Just like the donationware rolling stock that's also available at this site, but this time we need a complete name. Remember, this is a fictional route, so please avoid real placenames like "Racine & West Appleton." And please, no whimsical names like the "Ready Willing & Able." In other words, give the route a name that sounds like it could be a real railroad.

Post as many names as you can come up with. We'll select several of the best ones and list them in a poll for everybody to vote on. The winner of the poll gets a free copy of the route. The runner-up gets naming rights to any of the main trackside industries.

Have fun!

You could always do a take off on a local line here in NY, that was a locally run line to supply a chemical plant.

It was called the 'Skaneateles Short Line" (or SSL...and that's pronounced like 'Skinny-Atlas'..a native term).

How about "Lake Superior Ore" or "Lake Superior Ore Line" ?? Just a thought.

Nice job on the Laker. (ore boat). Stick with a name in the vicinity of the Great Lakes as these boats don't leave them.
Possibly Escanaba or Marquette Michigan Where I believe they still have iron ore loading facilities.

How about Rabbit, Watton, & Agate. These are three small towns in the iron mining region in the UP of Michigan near Lake Superior. The screen shot reminds me of some of the ore boats/docks that are common in that area.

Sorry arizona, thought that was a format of some sort *!embar*! How about Riverside & West Auburn? Ranthon, Wharton , and Athown? Or finally, Ridgetown, Warrior and Alton?

Is this better?
