Noticed that the thing infront of the cab on the walkway is still in RWA maroon

Actually, the brake triple valve is in red lead primer, as it is a new part since the last paint job.

Can't trust it unless it's Testers Model Master Colors.

I need some help from the Santa Fe historians.

First, is this a one of a kind?

If you have them, links to better pictures would help. And yes, I do enjoy pain... !*roll-laugh*!

Second, how many 'RS-1s' did the Santa Fe own?

Image

The reason I'm asking, is that it appears there were at least two variations of the RS-1s for the ATSF. and the paint schemes were different.

Thanks in advance!

Two sites suggest they had three:

But maybe you already saw those?

(I just Googled it, I don't claim to be a Santa Fe historian!)

My research indicates that there were five. They ended up numbered 2394-99, 2398 being the one off with the stripes. Two of them were built with different numbers but renumbered along the way.

Further research indicates all 5 were done in the yellowcap livery in later years. I'll do the black with white stripe with 4 numbers, skipping 2398, and do the zebra as 2398. That way, you will be able to have all 5 blacks for the earlier periods, and the 5 yellowcaps for later (70ish, as I saw Kartrax boards on them) periods.

Well, I'm finally finished with the Rock Island repaint of the RS-1! I have uploaded the file tonight.
I want to thank Rick for his patience in helping a beginner and his work in modifying the model to match the prototype. I owe him several beers! !*cheers*!
