Modified GP20 to look like a GP7u....

Unread postby ET44C4 » Fri Feb 05, 2021 10:20 pm

Just testing the waters here.... I was thinking of a modified Reppo GP20 with the addition of child objects to represent the ATSF GP7u rebuild. These locomotives are scattered all over on different shortlines, and I would think the repaint possibilities would be endless. Since I don't see anyone making a full model in the near future (although I could be wrong *!greengrin!* ), maybe one of the handful of talented child object modders could do their magic to recreate one? Perhaps finding a way to make the "Topeka Cab" on top of the round GP20's cab, maybe add some roof details here and there. Flatten the nose. Possibly try and make two individual windows in the front of the cab... Seems impossible to me and that's why I don't mess with that child object stuff lol... But hey, maybe there are some talented folks out there that might be willing to try this out....

!*don-know!*

There are tons of the GP7u models on shortlines all over the south. Would be a welcome addition.

I mean no disrespect but you're better off doing a completely different model at that point.

I figured that would be the case.

Although old the BritKits GP9 kit has a non-dynamic short hood version. I think it may have a round roof though but could be a good stand in and has repaint templets with it.
