DTG C&O E8's

Unread postby wopflyer » Wed Sep 04, 2019 1:56 am

Hello,

Here's a suggestion for you repainters. How about some C&O repaints for the DTG E8's?

Fri. Sept. 6, 2019

Hello,

As was pointed out below, I originally did not post a photo when I created this request because I had internet trouble that night and had to get to bed. So I wanted to come back and post a photo in this opening comment for this thread.

I like all three of these, but the top photo is my favorite. I've listed the photo's here in order from my first choice to Third choice. And it look's like the C&O had 31 E8A units (no B units), number 4000–4030, from what info I've found.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
wopflyer

Which of these 3? This is why people want you to post pictures when you make a request.

The middle one, please. The bottom one looks like Pere Marquette, the top one is the austerity paint scheme.

Sorry,

I meant to come back and post some pictures when I posted this originally, but I had some internet problems on my end and ran out of time before having to get to bed.

As for the pictures you posted, I like all three but the middle one is my favorite.

Those look great already. AFAIK, C&O's font is/was only available commercially.

4 digit numbers while the model provides 3 digits? Does this mean no auto-numbering when you've to number the units individually?

The "Missouri Pacific E8" repaint by Francisco Nunez (fnunezf), has 4-digit numbers and has dynamic numbering. Looks like Mr. Nunez made the first number painted on and then somehow shifted the spawn point for the 3-digit dynamic numbers so that it all lines up in the number board.

Buzz, you might want to see if Mr. Nunez will tell you how he did that if you don't know already. It helps that all of the number's start with the same number (4000–4030).

Stay calm people. If you look at some of my repaints they already had four digit numbers with auto numbering as long as the first number remains the same.

I'm going to need some help if I'm going to do the third paint scheme. I need more of a side picture to see what that curve looks like coming down the side of the cab. I can't get that clear in my head from that picture what that looks like.

This one is an F7, but it's a good close-up of the nose side-view.

The arch, or "Bow Wave", is different on the F7 vers. the E8's, but you get the idea.
