SD40-2 Flared Radiator Child Object

Unread postby BVERailer » Mon Apr 08, 2019 6:38 pm

I recently got into repainting, and I have gotten used to it. For my newest repaint, a NYS&W SD33ECO, I need a flared radiator child object for it. I was wondering if there was anyone who can make one? I’ve asked around on Facebook and couldn’t find anyone who could, so I came here in hopes of finding someone who can.

Luk Rail America's site may have what you need, he did a PR30C a few years ago which modified the Kuju SD40-2. You can see it on his Facebook page. I believe The Loco Shop also did one which I believe used EyeIn12's original SD60.

Thanks, but unfortunately the radiator on the PR30C is too big for the SD33ECO.

This is simple to fix by resizing if you use RWTools. First open the shape file and look for a section called SourceLToPTransform. You will find a number of lines like the below which have 16 numbers such as 1.0000000. From left to right, the first number is scaling by X, six is by Y, eleven is by Z. This will take a little experimentation as each line applies to a different portion of the shape which can allow you to completely shrink whole parts. I would start with 0.9000000 and go from there. On the RSC GP38-2 I edited one line to shrink the fuel tank to half it's length and the re-positioned by using 13, 14, 15. This is really simple to do once you get the hang of it and can give you a completely custom unit which I am surprised nobody has done. Keep RWTools open while you test your editing in the sim. You can alternate between the two programs with the window key, modify and save your edits in RWTools and keep pressing the reload asset key in the sim to view changes till you are happy with your resizing. Good luck
