Trying repainting

Ok I put the cargo change on hold while I learn to repaint stuff.
Here are a few of my starts please suggestions/input. These are not finished as I am just looking at what goes where and how to make the number boards (child objects) things and place them.

The number boards are where the model puts them so in general you can't move them. If you want to make the 'disappear' you can do that by alpha'ing (is that word?) them out. On the number you want to make invisible you just make the alpha layer all black and they won't show up. Most models have two numbers on the panel on locomotives one for the number boards and one for somewhere on the side.

I noticed you can do that to them. I played with changing the number color to reuse them but did not work as I thought.

The front color determines what color the number is. The alpha should be white with a black background.
