Wabash F7s

Unread postby TheTeenageFoamer » Fri Jan 08, 2016 9:55 pm

Hi folks, I would like this locomotive to be made for Railworks, and use the kuju F7. If you could dedicate the time, thank you, I'm just really busy and have no time to start another project right now.

I'm looking for comments about what anyone thinks about the colors here. Not only are the pictures all over the place but trying to arrive at something that looks right has been kind of a challenge. If any of you have ever seen 1189 or just have a opinion let me know. I can keep working on the shapes.

I'll go with the gray but the blue is too dark.

The blue looks good to me. I've always found trouble in matching the top gray color. It seems to have an aqua or blueish tint. Just to clarify: the bottom colors are a silver metallic. They are usually mistaken as being white (and probably became white with age).

For those interested, the GN Empire Builder add-on has a horn sound set that are a dead match to Wabash 1189. 1189 is a Canadian-built GMD model and worked from Winsor, ON to Buffalo, NY for most of it's career.
The American-built EMD units had "blat" horns and are identical to the Kuju model. They were mostly all stateside and were quite numerous on the Wabash; according to The Diesel Shop the railroad had 116 EMD F7A locomotives, of which 22 were GMD-built. The Wabash favored the A units and had only 9 B units.

I wish you good luck with the project. An N&W version with the grey top would be relatively easy to make once the Wabash colors are complete. N&W 3725 (1189) was retired in 1979 and donated to the museum in 1982.
