NS/CSX SD40-2 "Patched"

Unread postby mysterytrain » Fri Apr 03, 2015 2:11 pm

I'd like to suggest a repaint for the SD40-2 engines that NS has sent to CSX. Saw these photos on Facebook with the "patch" and thought they'd make a nice repaint project.

I already finished one, I just need to darken it because I made it too light.

Will this utilize the New York-New Haven SD40-2?

I have been trying to get help from others, but the NYNH SD40-2 will not allow repainting. After changing the XML and BIN the proper way, it will not show in-game. Currently it uses the default SD40-2, but of course the better looking model with proper headlight position.

You sure it's not fighting with the .ap folder. Try putting a .xxx after the .ap and see if it works. Are you getting couplers or nothing? Are you trying to use the same textures because I don't think they are transferable from the default (Kuju) to this model.

They don't transfer from the Kuju model. I am repainting like normal, and what I do usually is completely unzip the .ap file and take everything out, then I put the .AP file into a folder on my desktop. I make the files not read only. After doing the XML and BIN like normal, the engine does not even show up in the game's engine list. I get this with the Sherman Hill SD70M for some reason also, but it is only these two. I asked numerous people and nobody knows what may be causing this

Well whoever you are talking to is doing something wrong. Make a copy of your default engine in there re-name it NS_CSX, then cut and paste it back into the SD40-2 folder. Put this bin file in the engine file and it will show up as NS_CSX SD20-2. I just did the driver one.

Thanks, that worked. Now for some reason I did the stupid and painted without testing. The textures are terrible and don't line up.
And the person I was talking to was you, buzz. :P
But it was many more than you, it included numerous people including Mike and some others.

Just did up the Kuju SD40-2 for this snappy looking paint. I'll upload this for the weekend.
