I think a Bessemer and Lake Erie SD40T-3 would look pretty neat, especially with the Bessemer Route that is going to be coming out soon. The DTM SD45T-2 would be the model in question for the repaint.

Don't worry, I've got him covered. I believe this is the engine he is requesting (Or at least this is what google brought up.)

Just for the record, the B&LE route, which should be released soon, is set in 1920s and dedicated to the steam era.

Yep thats the kind right there. Forgive me for not posting the pics, Im relatively new to this site (second day on here lol). Im really looking forward to the Bessemer Route coming out even though it is set in the twenties. I was actually along the south end of the line in between classes today and got a BLE-IC-IC-BLE lashup.

Why not the Donner Pass SD40T-2 or the Soldier Summit SD40T-2? It's the closest thing you have since you're requesting an SD40T-3, while the SD45T-2 is a different loco from the SD40T-2's and the SD40T-3.

You'll find that the SD40-3s DMIR and BLE procured were SD45T-2s with the internals swapped to have QES1000 electrical cabinets and 16-645E3s.

Huh, that's interesting. Thanks for the info. The radiators on the locos were throwing me off.

Just to add to that. Its been increasingly common for railroads over the years to do that sort of thing since the modified prime mover on the sd45 was too big for its own good, the motor became so long that the crankshaft had a tendency to bend and cause engine damage, or even cause the whole motor to seize up.

Finding a "true" sd45 with its original 20 cylinder prime mover still on board is extremely rare, but several engines in museums still run the original 20 cylinder.

That is true of early SD45s, yes. But by the time the -2 variants hit the market, they had figured out how to reinforce the block in critical areas to stop the vertical vibration that caused failure of the 2 part cranks. (Anything with more than 12 cylinders have two part cranks)

The main reason for switching is fuel consumption alone. 20s are thirsty. I used to have the GPH figures at idle and full tilt for both.
