Canadian Pacific RS-11 Reskin

Unread postby Scrubuck » Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:24 pm

I have the Virtualrailroads RS-11 (LV), and I have been trying everywhere to get someone to do a reskin in CPR for it. No one appears to want to do it. Is it hard to paint? Even offered up a legal copy of the RS-11, still no takers. Why I want the reskin is my partner and myself do live streams on a Facebook Community page called "Trainsimulatorenthusiast". I own the "Canadian Mountain Passes" route, and this "little engine that could" loves it, going either way. Just no CPR or CP skin for it. I think I have all that have been posted here, mostly by Micheal Calvin (MadMike1024). Got a picture of one, very weathered, but I can't figure out how to post it here. !*don-know!*

Which CP unit did you want?
Da Build: Intel Core I5-9600k, Nvida RTX 2060 Super, 32 GB ram, and way too much storage.

Any CP or CPR repaint would do, I would prefer a weathered one if possible. But beggars can't be choosy, lol.

I think the main reason why nobody has done one is because CP never used RS-11's. They used MLW RS-18's which although they are equivalent have have a very distinct difference on the exterior, which ideally would require a modeller to come into play. Notice how the number board sheet metal area is rounded off on the MLW unit rather than the characteristic ALCo angular boards.

As far as repainting goes, in my experience it's not that difficult but I ran into several of those glitches where the engine appears abnormally glossy in game... and I don't know how to weather either.

John,

You can either darken the alpha layer of the texture, or import the alpha layer from the default texture to remove the "glossy" appearance. I can explain in further detail on how to do this if need be, so as long as I don't derail the thread.

Genericzack - Haven't heard from you since I gave you the model, then you sent me a rough draft back. Then you disappeared on me. Oh well.
