WIP: Locomotive Enhancement Pack Update V.2

Unread postby Machinist » Thu Apr 05, 2012 2:02 am

Final phase of update (yes, I'm late on schedule !!**sorry**!! ), 2 weeks to go.... currently testing and packing US Diesels (missing some Donner engines and SD70s).
All engines have now complete and lighted crew (up to 3 members on huge locos like ES44, Dash 9, SD70, K4). On the LEP-X Extreme version, the headlights are even brighter: range from 300m (small engines: B7, GP-7), 400m (SD-40, DD40X, AEM-7, K4) up to 500ms (ES44AC, Dash 9, SD-70).

Show Cases with pics of enhanced engines in this post:
(coming soon)

In meantime some pics of the new cabviews (you can drive mouseless, see more of the track and gauges) and cablights (24 hours per day) :

Pardon my ignorance, but your list mentions K4's. Is this enhancement available for just them or do you need to buy an entire upgrade pack?

I mixed subjects !!**sorry**!! I mentioned K4 as a sort of engine having 3 members crew.
The whole pack will include both US and UK diesels, eletrics and steams, and also DLC (payware, freeware etc.) assets. First version was only US default RSC diesel engines. Currently I'm finishing to enhance, pack and check US diesels and just for comparing purpose:
LEP v.1: 5 engines in 14 liveries (all of them re-enhanced for v.2 with crew, re-tweaked cab views and other lighting effects)
LEp v.2: new 8 engines in 30 liveries (total of v.2: 13 engines in 44 liveries), and I'm talking only about US diesels so far.

For LEP costumers the update is free (will have one each 2 months or so), the current is late but it's holding the equivalent of 2 or more updates.

I've published three freeware enhancements here on RWA Library (AEM-7 Raildriver Mod by dick8299, CN Widenose and DD40X, which were already re-enhanced for LEP), all ther others engines I'm mentioning on here will be part of the whole payware pack (for example: AEM-7, GG1, K4, Dash 9, Donner engines, all DLC SD40-2 and SD70 packs etc.).

I've already posted some pics of enhanced K4 for LEP:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4280&start=195#p47185

- never run a diseasel so not fussed if they are upgraded or not *!lol!*

Untill you play you don't know exactly what LEP does, playing is totally different of seeing pics.
Playing is believing, once a LEP costumer stated: "Firstly I would confirm that the LEP is great - it's when you see scenarios not having them that I appreciate how good they are!".

Cheers, !*cheers*!

Oh, That's OK! US Fleet is done, but I'm still adding or reviewing UK engines (there is a demad for them to expand the pack), every week I work on a new one and update never finish! !*roll-laugh*!

Till next week I'll announce the date, remebering that update is free for current owners of pack... depending of some secrets behind the scenes it may (not sure yet) be on Friday 27th. *!!wink!!*

In the meantime... some Woodhead and Falmouth Branch engines pics *!!wink!!*

Nope so far, since first release the goal is just "enhance" existing features of engines leaving untouch basic models and simulation files (others are enhancing sounds and phisycs so my work wouldn't override theirs). I've already got rain effects in one RW2 SD40-2 but is too much complex to work the whole pack with such engines. One thing is add rain to one engine, other is add to 15 different engines in five different pack versions, and take care of lighting of other 30 locos. I've already almost got to get virtual cablight swticher (only keypress) to turn on/off the headlights, but it took me too much time and I'll see this for further updates (I've asked others but we didn't find what I'm doing wrong). So far till update 3 I'll be focused on add engines. And then add virtual cablight swticher and maybe rain.

What I've been saying is that playing with enhanced engines is totally different of just seeing pics. If you already have LEP you know what I mean, especially on meetings is fantastic the headlights of the incoming engine (also enhanced) entering your cab since far. Even with no rain effect RW2 engines are much more fun and better to play, especially at night of course.

Cheers, *!!wink!!*

"Till next week I'll announce the date, remebering that update is free for current owners of pack... "

Does this mean if I buy and download the US Loco Enhancement Pack V1 now that when you release version 2 in the next few weeks that I will be able to download the US Loco Enhancement Pack V2 for free?

You bet! !!*ok*!! As promised, the updates along this year will be free for costumers, remembering as well that v2.0 update will be around 5 times bigger (related to the total of engines and liveries) than version 1.0. *!!wink!!*
Note that v2.0 will be named just LEP, instead of US LEP, this is why v1.0 was only about all RSC Default US Locomotives (diesels), and v2.0 will include diesels, eletrics and steams both US and UK (I just gave up of German engines for now, otherwise it will delay the update more than is already delayed).

BTW, the v1.0's SD40-2 (for example) had a permanent cablight and instruments light (24h, not switchable) only on driver hand; v2.0 will have 6 types of cablights linked to headlights:
Headlights/rearlights off:
1) driver: soft permanent cablight (good to see in cab at darker weather conditions even during the day), no instruments light. (new)
2) conductor: no cablights.
Headlights on:
3) driver: brighter (meaning same as v1.0) cablight, and normal instruments light (same as v1.0).
4) conductor: brighter cablight. (new)
Rearlights on:
5) driver: softer cablight and normal instruments light. (new)
6) conductor: softer cablight. (new)

This can be tested (better than seeing pics) from tomorrow with the freeware "SD40-2 CSX YN2 Re-Paint & Enhancement Pack v1.0" (by me and ATSF3814) that I'll be uploading to Library in couple hours. !*salute*! Some pics... *!!wink!!*

Ok thank you for this indications. anyway I think the RSC make these updates for the rain ... one day maybe! LOL
I see that you work much more on improving the pack and as I said you do a great job. I do not regret my purchase of the pack V.1

If I were to buy this, would I need to pay for getting enhancements to locomotives I don't even own, like some of the British stuff (don't even really want any of it) and things like the DD40?

The enhancement update is currently holding 35 engines in almost 70 liveries. If the case, you'll be paying for the original US LEP pack (all default RSC US locos) with 5 engines in 20 liveries, the others are free update bonuses (not predicted when the first pack was issued). You'll play with those you currently own and/or like, and ready for some new enhanced engines in case your roaster grows. *!!wink!!*
