Thanks for the suggestions!

I will put together a list and hand it over to Ulf, so he can see what he can do!

If anybody has pictures of engines he wants to see in the simulator, don´t hesitate to post or send them to me! *!!wink!!*

Wow! Bought this a few days ago and finally had time to use it. Great job! My new favorite loco. A Conrail livery would be awesome!!

As much as I love this engine, I have a huge problem with it: the author did not follow the convention for the folder structure, as documented in RSC's "1.01 Provider & Product Setup.pdf" document in the developer docs. All providers I know are following this standard.

The engine is in this folder:
Assets\virtualRailroads\vR_Alco_RS11\DieselLoks\RS11

The engine should be in this folder:
Assets\virtualRailroads\vR_Alco_RS11\Railvehicles\Diesel\RS11\Default\Engine
("Default" could also be LH, or LehighValley, etc.)

As a result, the engine is not standard, which do and will lead to incompatibilities. This is a real show stopper. For example, it is impossible to swap this engine into an existing scenario, because RW-Tools does not recognize it as an engine.

This is a big problem because swapping with RW-Tools is what allows most players to use a new engine. Building new scenarios from scratch is beyong the abilities of most player, and so is manually editing scenario files.

Please consider correcting this problem.
Thanks!

Hi Chacal, i am not very good at all that stuff but i cloned an old Ohio Steel scenario and swapped the engine and it ran as normal, so i must have been lucky with a one off, and i did it with RW Tools. Regards Pete

Weird. You swapped with the RS-11?
Did you use the "swap selected item" button?

Yes i did that , i just cloned and renamed the scenario first though. also because i may have fluked it i did another and it went okay as well. i dont intend to run this in Sherman Hill but just for a test run i cloned a switching scenario from the workshop and it worked fine also. yes i did the normal thing, highlighted both engines and swap selected button and then saved. Good luck i am sure you will get it to work. Regards pete

Swapping engines with RWtools should not be the problem here.

The ALCO uses the usual folder structure used by virtual Railroads, or former German Railroads for years. And the developer of the engine has been working with RSC since the first days of Railsimulator, so I really think he knows what he is doing ...

The ALCO does not need any specific scripting or InputMappers which may lead to problems like non-driveable engines after exporting.

We even cannot reproduce the error in RWTools here, swapping works fine. On the other hand RWTools is not perfect and sometimes causes errors like engines being recognized as coaches, or engines being recognized as tenders. This also happens with default engines and is not a specific problem of this addon.

Ran the first scenario last night and I have to say is WOW! this is the best engine available. Pay attention to the guages. I was running the locomotive and threw the throttle into run 8 from run 2 and the boost pressure climbed and so did the engine water temperture. once the locomotive power leveled out, the boost pressure started to drop and the water temp dropped down. One guage I did not pay attention to was the fuel pressure guage. I did notice it has a operating range 30 to 50 PSI for normal. Also love the smoke. Outside when the loco was under load and I added throttle the smoke came up and once the engine power leveled out , the black smoke cleared.
So big KUDOs on this one.
Love to see a RSD12 and RSD15 Too.

Thanks all, I'm happy to learn that I should be able to swap this great loco in my scenarios.
Now to find out why it didn't work last night.
I did get a RW-Tools error message, saying you can't swap an engine with a wagon.

Yes, this error happens from time to time. Normally, after restarting RWTools you should be able to swap the engines normally.
