RSC doing less promotion?

I might be the only one who has noticed this, but it seems like to me that RSC has been promoting it's new releases a lot less than they use to. Am I the only one who notices? It seems like they are doing less and less 'teasing' with screenshots and information about the major releases. I remember back about a year ago when they'd post frequently about upcoming products and share quite a bit of information with us on social media. To me I just haven't noticed a lot of things being said about new products ahead of time like it use to be. Perhaps this is just my perception?

I'm guessing they have less to promote. They have two routes that I know of they are working on. They have made the majority of locos people want already. Yes there are more, but they got most of the most popular ones. A slow down is understandable.

What I noticed is all (I think) my DLC is back. Even the P42DC shows up in my collection screen. Someone was busy indeed, but this has not been publicized.

I agree with the OP, however, I think because much of the content being built at present, Western Lines of Scotland, U-Boat, GE 44 Tonner, Consolidation Class 2-8-0, GP20, etc, are not their creations as such, they have to wait to get screenshots sent to them from 3rd party developers to promote on their website and Facebook page, apart from London to Faversham High Speed route and Marias Pass, I don't know what else is actually coming from RSC Towers in the next 6 months, it's all very ominously quiet. !*don-know!*

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Maybe it is because they got tired of all of the sarcastic remarks about both the content and the delivery dates out here in the "social media" (what a oxymoron that is). Now maybe the new strategy is to just put the product out there. Ultimately it will probably sell just as much just slightly later.

I had seen the GP20 WIP in RSC facebook page.

I've not looked lately. Is it back listed for sale? I have purchased every American thing they have ever done except the Centipede and nothing of the Euro stuff. It just doen't interest me I guess.

The answer may well depend on where one looks for promotion. http://www.Railsimulator.com used to be RSC's one and only place to announce and promote new DLC, updates to old DLC, major upgrades to the simulator, and so forth; now that site sometimes drifts along for weeks without any noticeable changes. Then they launched their "blog", Engine Driver" (http://www.engine-driver.com), which they use for what they call communications, some of which include links to the DLC store. They also have a Facebook site (htpps://www.facebook.com/railsimulator, where most of their shameless product promotions appear now; these tend to be redundant (four or more iterations of the same information are not unusual: only the dithering and usually unrealated comments from visitors change). This is where the "teasing" you mentioned takes place, except for those "tweets" (mostly from twits) that show up at the bottom of Railsimulator.com. RSC has become wary of promising specific release dates, not surprisingly, given all the drubbings they've suffered when a new product didn't show up for sale on Steam at the precise day and hour named by RSC (do people camp out in front of their computers, like those pitiful Christmas shoppers shown all too frequently on American television?).

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I do check all on the sites I've mentioned on a regular basis, for which I should probably sign up for addiction therapy of some kind. My only excuse for this absurd behavior is that I'm retired and also looking for breaks from scenario editing. As long as I'm in a confessional mood, let me admit that responding to posts here at RWA has also become common for me, even when I'm not particularly interested in a given thread.

Everyone has made some really good points that I hadn't thought of. With some of the criticisms they get in social media from those who chose to bash their products, it's no wonder why they're showing less of them. If they show them less, there is less of a chance to get negative feedback from a minority of people. It might also save them from people who read those negative comments and decide not to buy the product because of what others have said, whether or not the criticisms are sound/realistic or not. Recently though, they've also had a LOT of products being 're-released', so those have taken the spotlight from the 2 routes (MP and LFHS) that are big releases for the early year. They're probably trying to also see a revival of sales with some of those re-released units since they've been updated. Not a bad strategy at all. However, if anyone from RSC does read this, I really did like all the buzz you guys use to generate with the major projects and releases. None the less, great work lately.

Maybe it's the fact that they're spending more time actually working on the routes to avoid a disaster like Donner Pass? Just my **!!2cents!!** . Which is why I'm confident that Marias Pass will be great.

Maybe they figure that the announcments in the Newsletter are enough. Also, less advertisement equals less speculation that a product will be this good or this bad, and it also avoids the demands that the DLC be made to this or that livery specification.

I've seen the complaints from people that certain DLC had been withdrawn or gone missing. The only time I noticed anything "gone" is when I went into Offline mode. As soon as I went online again, everything came back.

RSC have done it again with the Heritage Units. I haven't kept up with the units/development really, but it seems like they just released them out of nowhere! If they keep up like they are with saying London to Faversham is coming very soon, it might be out anytime in the next week or two, but I won't speculate. This new surprise technique does leave you kinda shocked when things come out earlier than you though. I would have guessed the Heritage units would be another week or two more as well.
