Ok... So I tried to make my MONSTER TRAIN on Cajon Pass free roam after so many failed attempts. It used every engine and asset on the entire map except the line of cars on track 24 in Barstow yard cuz they refuse to be touched. If you go within a few feet of them on their track and they derail instantly.
So I've got the whole train assembled with DPUs evenly distributed throughout it in Barstow (I've got a snapshot of it from the map screen...the train is HUGE). My plan was to drive it to SB and then take the 3% grade track back to Barstow. I made it all the way west to Victorville with no problems and then it would always derail around where the main lines crossover (where the bridge is) just past Victorville. I even tried again creeping in notch 1 to no avail. I've got a new game plan, but I'm gonna take a break because it takes sooooo long to assemble it again. I've tried new techniques each time and have gotten better, but have failed.
So now we get to Donner Pass. I've done free roam on it starting in Roseville when I first got the route months ago. I tried to assemble a monster train once there, but it derailed as well. That was before I've learned little tricks. So in frustration of Cajon and my last attempt at a monster train on Donner Pass starting in Roseville, I decided to assemble one free roam starting in Sparks.
Results??!? HA!!! Was I in for one of my worst headaches EVER assembling a train. That yard in free roam is the most physics possessed I've ever seen on any route so far!!!! I simply took the 2 engine work train to assemble the loose cars in the yard and then start combining the already assembled trains together with them to make my monster train. I simply went down an empty track towards them and derailed at the switch even though it was set correct. My engines stopped dead in their tracks. But for some reason even though I never touched them, the cars on the track near mine EXPLODED into a physics tornado, That is.... they started rushing up in a string into the sky like they were being sucked up by an invisible tornado. Then they would come crashing down. And when I pushed PAUSE and then pushed CONTINUE, it would re-agitate the cars into the sky while taking even more cars from other tracks each time. CRAZY!!
Then I started again and placed the engines in a different place. I switched to the train that has the GE's heading it and doing so made a DIFFERENT line of cars explode into the sky again.
Needless to say... I thought the physics were bad on this route, but I just learned I didn't even know the half of it. God I hope they fix this stuff.
