It is impressive the amount of trolls parading right now in the Steam DTG TSC forum who have declared a war against FRCenh.
Most of them have no clue where FRC is located and some pile no more than 10 hours of play but may have something like a few hundred games in their collection. !!bang!!

It's just amazing to me how many "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" conversations take place in some of these forums making great sound and fury with little or no meaning accomplishing nothing.

I have a solid 561.9 hours in TSC and I do think aside from the trolls, some of the criticism I have seen is very fair. I've seen the route, the extension, and included stock. I think it's time people put on their big boy pants and actually speak up....but that won't happen weather it be for personal reasons or whatever. **!!2cents!!**

Operative word is "some". What do you think is gained by trashing a authors work? Are any of these people suggesting fixes? Spikee over on the Dovetail forum seems to be the only person actually talking about improvements. I ran a company for more years than I care to admit and I always told my managers don't come into my office to bitch about something unless you have a idea or better yet a suggested solution to your problem.

fair criticism is not "trashing a authors work". It's feedback on how to make the current and future products better. Ignoring fair criticism is how we still have rollingstock from over 10 years ago still being resold to us.
Sounds that are lacking (and people immediately convert to another authors sound pack(s) which tells you all you need to in and of itself) People say solutions but are constantly met with 'oh they're bitching' or another cop out low butt excuse.

Further thoughts, what ten year old stuff do you think is inferior? And further did it ever occur to you that the ten year old stuff is new to a new player?

Ill play the game. Blues Clues...Dora the Explorer
You tell me which honestly looks inferior. It's a rough challenge and people might not like to admit it, but there is an inferior!

and that's why this sim will never improve.
10 years from now we'll be selling new players outdated rollingstock from 20 years ago and so on.
Oh well I suppose.

This conversation has been going on in the 15 years I have been in the hobby. Developers want to stay in business so they tend to provide what the majority of their customers want. There is some excellent freeware out there and some are making good reskins for and there are high end rolling stock and locomotives that sell for a price of a route alone, the developers are aware of this. Development time to make higher end rolling stock and locomotives from scratch and scenery assets cost time and money to create. It is a balancing act of price and quality and or quantity. I doubt that trying to sell a "premium" route with all the bells and whistles and quality you expect for less than $60-$80 would go over well and there would be, no matter how good it is, people would be whining about the price and or quality. Value only resides in the individual user, it is subjective. The thing developers are most responsive to is if it sells well, did it meet their expectations. If you have issues with a developer or have suggestions or comments, then I would suggest to contact them directly and not berate them in public.

Well I have 6,310.7 hours in TSC and all of its versions on Steam, plus countless hours right back to the first day of the first release of KUJU's Train Simulator - long before this excellent forum.

At the time most of us were sort of blown away by the not that great an improvement over MSTS and many that were active in MSTS went back to that sim at least for a while. Overall, I can assure you that there has been a massive improvement but even so, there are still models (engines, stock and other assets) that are a good enough representation for the majority.

This route is a solid bit of work from some very respected modellers, at least 2 of whom go back to MSTS and one of whom created probably the best detailed MSTS route ever. Excellent work on this new and updated version of Feather River.

This you must try. I loaded up the California Zephyr at the Portola station to take a drive through the loop. Pulled away and there is an animated train washer set up to wash as you pass through. The arms articulate in and out as you enter and exit. Really kind of cool.
