Thanks mate for the little present on the Farcebook page - looks stunning :)

( !!**sorry**!! , not sure how to link it here)

One question which I am not sure if it has been covered - liveries and numbers. I know you are doing several liveries (black, black lined, greyhound etc) but are they just of 844 or will we be able to renumber to any of the 800's in that FEF3 series?

As always *!!thnx!!*

!*cheers*!

I don't see anything on their facebook page now, only the shot of the upcoming New York - New Haven line. !*don-know!*

Hi Grant,

Glad you like the video (I don't know how to link it either).

The liveries will be those you mentioned. As for numbers, the auto-numbering allows for all the 800 series, but when you select 844, it automatically enables the 844 shield on the floor of the cab and the 3D numbers in the shield on the smokebox (a specially detailed shield for 844). The number 844 appears on both the loco and tender by default - so you won't get two different numbers in QD (which does happens with the Connie). The auto-numbering also allows you to set the 5-character train consist code (for instance "X-844", or "space space 19 space" - you can use numbers, a dash and an "X"). The final digit in the aut-numbering code says whether to have the Mars light present (an X there makes the Mars light vanish).

!*cheers*!

Hey SmokeBox,

I was wondering if you would like to be willing to help me build a Northern Pacific A-2 4-8-4 from #s 2650-2659.

Payware... something that took this long with this much effort has a slim to none chance of being free. That's like saying I'll throw away two years of my life working in a school cafeteria with no compensation lol.

On a related note, this is well worth the money that you'll need to pay for it.

Payware - my hobby morphed into a profession with the release of the Consolidation (which began life as a freeware project).

The brass model is beautiful indeed!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "help". If you've never built something like that before (for the sim, I mean), the best way forward is to start with something manageable, to learn the ropes. I started with very simple things, like trees, buildings, a horse (really!), with a few easy animations, and then moved on to doing a few items of rolling stock. It was only when I felt I'd got the hang of doing rolling stock that I decided to try something harder. You have to take it one step at a time, or you risk frustration and disappointment - making steam locos for the sim must be the hardest thing there is.

I'd like help building it over Skype if possible. and I'd like to know how to convert the Geopcdx file to Gmax, Blender, 3d crafter, or 3Dsmax.

Thanks guys,
Logan

It's impossible to reverse engineer the geometry files of an asset. What exactly did you intend to convert?

You have to start with a blank canvas, so to speak, and build you models from scratch (every model I've ever made started as either a cube or a cylinder, untextured of course).

Logan,
You are way in over your head here as you might have already figured out so take a time out and think about the learning curve you are facing. Get back to the folks here in a few months after you learn a whole bunch of stuff.
