:)

Besides opening the roof, doors and windows, you'd also start the oil lubricator (three separate controls) and check all the sight windows to make sure the oil was circulating, turn on the steam throttles supplying the compressor (it's no longer just cosmetic ... if it's not running, the main reservoir won't recharge and eventually you won't be able to release the brakes) and generator (needed for the lights to work). Then you'd open the throttles supplying the injectors and blower (which won't work if you forget to open their throttles at the start of the shift). Next you'd pull back the cylinder cocks lever and crack open the throttle to start warming and clearing the cylinders, then open the firebox doors and have a look at the coal (you can see the coal now) to check the level (it would be below the ideal, so you'd close the doors and then drag down on the foot pedal to get the fireman to start stoking it - you'll see the doors open and close without your intervention). Switch on the headlights (bright or dim), select the classification lights if necessary (keyboard command only ... there was no control in the cab for those). Put the reverser in the corner, turn on the sander (it has separate positions for the front and rear sanders, which have a limited 2 hour supply of sand each), pull the whistle cord a couple of times, turn on the bell air valve to start the bell ringing, release the independent brake, then the train brakes, while opening the throttle a little more, and off you go! Easy really.

I'm hoping it'll be out by Easter. I think it's practically finished. I've corrected the things RSC reported to me and the few things I saw myself. I even made a special, dumbed-down "HUD-enabled" version that works with the Noddy F4 HUD and auto-fireman. I'm just waiting for RSC to give me the final feedback from the beta testers and their own QA people.

By the way, the dumbed-down version has twice the horsepower and tractive effort of the real ("expert") one, to compensate for the incredibly inefficient auto-fireman. It's quite funny running that one with the auto-fireman disabled!

That will be for me - many thanks - :D I tend to spend too much time out of the cab either pacing or lineside passing than actually doing anything to make it go... !*roll-laugh*!

To each their own... *!lol!*

You'll find it quite different though! In this video here I was manually firing and recording at the same time. Mike put in keybindings for literally every single control and feature so you can do it while not in the cab. http://youtu.be/PpbNZpb1p8Q

Superb video! The whistle is wonderful! I thought about making a pack of alternative whistles and uploading it here, but I think I'll leave that to you!

I saw it, fortunately, but I wasn't the one who marked the comment as spam. Strange!

Just been watching it again. Love the video! I did some testing on Portland Terminal a while ago, deafening everyone along the Main Street with my bell !*roll-laugh*!

Pity there wasn't a shot of the firebox doors opening and closing, with the visible fire mass, and perhaps a close-up of the cylinder cocks linkage behind and under the cylinders ... maybe for the next video :)

I can't remember if the visible fire mass is in the beta you have, or if I did it afterwards. If you don't have it, I suggest you pester Matt to get him to ask me to send it (he seems to be a bit busy right now with WLOS). It makes a huge difference to the "experience", plus you'd get the proper, fully-functional main reservoir and compressor.

It wasn't me. (BNSF5608) the fire mass is visible though.

I've learned I keep a good full head of steam (as heard by frequent safety purge in the video) at 650LBS of coal in the firebox, and half sight glass boiler level.
