I wonder if they fixed the wonky stripes on the nose?

One has to take apart the .ap files and compare old and new, right?

Strange though, that a 176.3 MB download results in 2 updated .ap's (route and assets) totalling more than 1.5 GB? Does DTG have a way to patch .ap files?

Mike, just to be certain: you didn't supply any updated files to the SD40T-2?

Apparently they can, since the .ap files are container files in themselves using the STORE file structure.

Anyway, I compared old and new Soldier Summit asset packs, and found the following files different by filesize and datestamp
SD40T-2EngineScript.out, SD40T-2_sp_DRGW.bin and _nd.bin and sd40T-2_sp.GeoPcDX, the engine core and simulation files also. The newer ones are a little larger.
The texture files are still the same size.

One has to compare the changed file line by line/byte by byte to look for actual differences. Using a synchronized scrollng hex editor, I've found that differences start at 0&00000F50 and concern the advanced braking scripting.

Mike Rennie should now about differences in the engine script, since he is the author?

The update also means FanRailer's recent physics update will have to be re-done probably.

If they've done anything to the scripting, it's something I know nothing about. It's their script now, so they're free to do with it as they see fit.

Has anyone had any luck with this? I'd also really like to change these sounds out.

Thanks

Change the bin file to point to his sound. If you don't know how to do this yell and I'll explain further.

I honestly believe adding more static consists to the yards will be a big help. All the engines with the lens flare just lag the hell out of my machine.

As for the sounds, I have applied them, it's best to copy the engine sound .bin file from the Donner Pass SD40(T)-2. The flange sounds aren't heard without modifying the .bin file as I do not want the flange and rolling sounds on the freight cars. The freight cars are using Krellnuts sounds in my install.

Well I got Epic Journeys in the sale and fired up the route for impressions.

It started out really bad. I chose to quick drive out of Helper and kept encountering wonky A.I. trains from jump. They were on the same track and rammed me head-on before I could throttle up out of the yard. If I did manage to get rolling, the switch on the crossover would engage for the approaching AI train while I was still going through it...and cue the derail of my train. After a couple reboots of the whole sim, the AI train would either now stop for me or just didn't exist at all.

The only other quirk was, there would sometimes be a road full of vehicles driving along... then all of a sudden they would ALL disappear instantly at once, leaving a long barren road.

Other than that, this route is great! The attention to detail shows in the scenery....especially in the numerous different rock faces . The new brakes take some getting used to. I popped in Simmer4's SD40 sounds to replace those ancient bad sounds. I quick drove the Dash 9 autorack train from Donner Pass and needed to add another engine due to a wheel slip stall going up the eastern grade of this route.

I give the route a B+/A- so far. Definitely one of my favorite routes for this sim! DTG done good with this one and upped their game. !!*ok*!!
EMD 2-strokes rule! My all time favorite: SD45X also love the SD40-2/SD40T-2/SD45-2/SD45T-2/DD35A/DDA40X/SD70ACe/SD80ACe

That's interesting because I had the same thing happen the first time I ran that QD however I have run it several times since then with no problems just like you.

I forget which scenario it was but I would start and a few miles from the yard and an ai train would be on my rails and would cause a head on crash ending the scenario. Did this two times before fixing itself, I did make sure that I didn't miss a signal. Strange.

Interesting....I thought there were Rio Grande F7s that came with Railworks. I don't approve that it requires the GN Empire Builder Pack.
