Did all the rolling stock make it in or was the britkit RS3 the only thing cut? I got home and saw it off in it's own folder keeping my BAR stuff company.

One of the things I liked was all the foreign road cars that made the line feel like a real rail line. Those are all in the Springfield route folder but after the whole thing with the Portland route I am wondering if some of that got cut out? I hope not, the homogeneous freight car fleets in some of the routes can be a bummer.

I am really hoping they introduce a way to allow freight cars to be introduced into routes without editing scenarios in the next train sim but I suspect to Euro/UK eyes having all the freight cars the same seems fine.

As preface: I have VNHRR v2 and the steam version of v3. Only steam v3 is installed currently.

1. If you uninstall v2 as suggested before you get v3, then ALL the content from VNHRR v2 will be removed INCLUDING the NH RS3 and FA1 that were installed with VNHRR v2. You will keep whatever other versions of the RS3 and FA1 you might have purchased separately from Dick or otherwise.

2. VNHRR v3 does not seem to include logos & marks for some of the foreign rolling stock. I have not done a complete inventory, but have noticed the B&M stuff missing logos for sure.

3. You can certainly save the necessary RS3 and FA1 folders manually before removing VNHRR v2, then put them back after installing v3. The scenarios from v2 won't work, but you'll otherwise have the units to play with in VNHRR v3.

Hope that explains the situation clearly (as I see it).

Diego, thanks! Hopefully the assets remained the same and with the rolling stock, at least, we can just drop the "real" stuff back in. Otherwise it starts to not be worth the effort and maybe better off sticking with V2.

Didn't realize the FA was out too, forgot about that one.

The RS-3 folder is in Britkits and is unaffected by deleting the VNHRR version2. I deleted my version2 after cloning the route using RWTools and the FA1 and EMD GP9 are still there in the Assets\VNHRR\Springfield\RailVehicles\Diesel folder. I am still waiting for the update through T&D so I don't know anything about the Steam version.

Should the RS3 and FA-1 be sold as Steam DLC?

Who are you asking? Is this like some sort of unofficial poll?

Hi,

First some good news, the update to the VNH-2 is in the final phase and should be available some time this week. Also, we have now learned that the Steam route is not being delivered in .ap package format, which means that we will not require anybody to uninstall v2 before installing our update any more. In other words: if you own v2 of the route, you will keep all the old engines and stuff, just get the udpated and new things added on top. Much simpler and easier that way, for everybody. :D

Regarding the FA: as has already been announced here in the forum by Cesar, DTM is working on a much improved version of the ALCO FA/B-1. Specifics have yet to be determined, but it will be an all new model (as can be seen on the WIP screenshots in Cesar's thread here). This alone was reason enough for us to remove the old model from our route.

The RS-3 will return through Trains and Drivers. I cannot speak for Dick, obviously, but as far as I know it is not planned as a Steam product.

Version 3 only includes NH liveried equipment and some others with blanked out logos. This was the only way it could be made available for worldwide sales and avoid possible future debacles if (who knows!) another railroad decides to follow BNSF's example and revoke a licence or whatever.

Cheers
Michael

Great news! I've been eagerly waiting for the update.

One question, for us with the V2. Will we keep the logos on the rolling stock?

I just got the update notice.. a free update.. that is very cool of your guys, I was not expecting that. Thank you! !*brav*!

I will back up v2, just to be safe. Time to get myself re-acquainted with RW_Tools, I have not done much with it since I added BAR stuff to the Fort Kent scenarios. Hopefully it will not be too painful to go through and add back some of the other stock.. and maybe some stuff from Horseshoe as well. No railroad in the 50s without PRR stock. We need some NYC stuff too.

Last night I did more with the RS3. While I really love it (especially the Alco burbling idle) there is room for improvement. I will look forward to seeing what Trains and Drivers comes up with.

PS - the directions in the update notice say to uninstall v2. Might want to clarify that with them.

Good news! Patiently awaiting my email.

Thanks to the entire team for this wonderful route.

Michael has already recommended uninstalling v2. The alternative is to clone the route and give it another name. Then you can uninstall v2 safely so there won't be any conflicts with version three and you will still have the forbidden assets available for your new route.

Just out of curiosity, I searched the RWA File Library for scenarios written for the VNHRR versions 1 & 2. Results:
Hayden Freight
VNHRR: A Safe Haven
VNHRR: Night Freight Run
VNHRR: Night Freight Makeup
Hartfelt Switching Parts 1, 2, and 3
VNHRR: Jones and Sons
A Thompsonville Run, Part 1
A Thompsonville Run, Part 2
Industrial Switcher

Michael has already informed me that some of these will not run on version 3, due to track changes, but a few posts in this thread indicate another reason: lack of some rolling stock excluded from v3. So, that leaves me wondering whether all current scenarios for VNHRR in the RWA File Library should be labeled as workable on versions 1 and 2 only (probably, I'm guessing, only on v2)? Alternatively. they could simply be removed from the file library. Ideas, anyone?
