Surfliner+TS2014 bundle problem

Unread postby jonmorrie » Thu Oct 17, 2013 9:40 pm

So even though I have TS2014 already on my computer, I wanted to get another copy of it as well as the Pacific Surfliner with it on a separate Steam account on another computer (don't ask why, it makes sense in my world).

Anyway, I bought the Surfliner+ES44DC bundle, and at the bottom of the page, it says TS2014 is not required for this addon. So I figured I'd buy it and have TS2014, the ES44, and the Surfliner. But when I run the game, there is no executable; just the locomotive, TestTrak, and the Surfliner assets+route. No game. What do I do?

The Surfliner route is the game. TS14 is (technically) not included with the package, just the TS14 game engine used on the route. To get all of TS14's features and routes you have to purchase the actual game again.

Hi Jon,

Do you have the game showing up in the Steam Library page (Train Simulator 2014) ?

If you run it, what do you see when in-game?

Just to confirm what imphantum says - when you buy Surfliner, you get the core tech plus the surfliner (and bnsf if you got that) - but you won't get donner pass, london faversham and hamburg hanover.

I don't follow where you say "when i run the game there is no executable...." and then "no game".

Kind Regards

When I look in the game folder, there are no files except some assets. No .exe, or dlls, nothing. Just a few assets and thats it.

I just downloaded the Surfliner bundle route and have the same problem. The route and assets are there, but route does not appear in the list of routes for standard or QD. All files are in the AP format, both assets and route. This I suspect is the root of the problem. The AP files I also believe is causing some 3rd party routes to fail. This is even after a verify. Route is listed a 00027...

EDIT: Found the problem. Surfliner is only listed under career, no standard or QD. How dumb to only include career. I do not play online or career scenarios.

Disable scoring in your settings. Boom. Not a career scenario anymore.

I don't have the same problem though. I only have the DLC, not the game itself. When I press play game, it says it cannot find the executable. When looking through the RailWorks folder, there is only an asset folder and content folder. No files.

Have you tried a verify?

I got someone to try this today, set up a fresh steam account and go ahead and buy the bundle - all worked 100% and a TS2014 + surfliner + bnsf pack were installed and operational once download was completed.

Only thing I can suggest then is to contact our support team - support@railsimulator.com - and send as much info as possible.

Please include a screenshot of your "library" screen.

If you have a "Train Simulator 2014" entry, then also right click on it and click view downloadable content - and send a screenshot (or two) of that.

Lastly, go to your Steam\Logs folder, zip up "content_log.txt" and "download_log.txt" and "connection_log.txt" and send them as attachments.

Include your steam username also (but NOT your password of course!).

Hopefully from there we'll be able to advise on your best next steps.

Regards
Matt.

Thank you. That worked, but also disabled the overspeed indicator.
Also not that RW tools can not see the route because of the AP files.

Matt,

I appreciate it. I'll send that out ASAP. I already sent the problem to steam last night, but I have my doubts as to how quickly I'll get a response.

Disabling that annoying speeding indicator would be a welcome benefit ... I don't mind its coming on so much, but then it lingers and flashes long after I've returned to the posted limit.

My sentiments exactly!! While they are at it get rid of the BARF meter which shoots to the extreme around the mildest curves.

I like the BARF meter. It helps to compensate for a lack of real world seat of the pants feeling.
The new over speed indicator sticking around too long is a bit of an annoyance.
