Has the ENV been changed?

Unread postby PolyesterMafia » Mon Oct 14, 2013 7:23 pm

Is it just me, or do the locomotives and freight cars seem to have more of a mirror finish now? I thought it was just my own works, which have alpha channel for environmental relections set to 9% lightness using the TrainBumpSpecEnvMask shader. But I looked at a couple of RSC locomotives and they too now have increased reflectivity. I've only noticed this in the last few days.

I'm curious.
Do they seem slightly more reflective when the weather is wet, but normal when dry?
I've been wondering if they made some stock kinda wet looking in stormy weather... But I'm not sure... *!greengrin!*

There have been some changes to the shaders at least from 2013 > 2014. You'd need to compare like for like by going back and forth between versions [ if you have backups ] and use the exact same scenarios and camera positions.

@ Ericmopar

AFAIK it's really only possible to do a ' wet look ' i.e. increased spectacular in certain areas, if you're using the seasonal textures/mesh [ look at the Donner Pass Dash 9 in summer or winter ] or use specific rolling stock models for clear or rainy weather,,,willing to be shown otherwise though.
