I Removed the entire Railworks Folder and...

I removed the Railworks folder and was going to let Steam reinstall it as a completely new install, but...
I ran into this little quirk, where Steam's file verification for TS2014 says all files verified!!!
I double checked my friends, and that folder was indeed gone from Steam/Common, so how could a file verification say all the files were present and accounted for?
I wish RSC would give us an alternate way to verify and download this game. I truly do not trust Steam.

Did you try uninstalling TS2014 from your Steam Library, or is TS2014 still highlighted? Right click on it, does it say "Play game" or "Install game" ? If you just removed the folder without doing an uninstall (Delete local content) then Steam may still think TS2014's still installed.

I would have copied the folder and renamed it, then delete local content, then search for any folders hanging around. Run CCleaner, too.

I had the same thing happen and I created an empty folder called "RailWorks" in the Common folder and TS2014 downloaded a brand-new copy of TS2014 for me. Check it out!

I understand what you are saying Chris, but how can a file verification show all files successfully verified when the folder isn't even there?
It should have said something like "file not found, would you like to install the missing files?"

If Steam's system can't detect a completely missing folder the size of Railworks, how can we trust the file verification process?

Anyhow. I only have TS 2014 on there so I decided to reinstall Steam too. It was rather bloated in size from being on there for over a year.

Thanks I'll try and remember that for next time.

Look for a folder called DOWNLOADING and see if anything is in it. If there is look see if it is railworks, if it is delete it then verify again.

I had this problem before the update when I was trying to make a fresh install to have and it would not work. Deleted my downloading folder contents and it was good to go.

Thanks Bob, nothing was in it, but it's another trick I can use in the future.
