I've been messing around with the route editor and managed to start a new route with the Google Overlay working. My big question now is... How does one get the elevation terrain imported onto a route? I know it involves DEM map but other then that I'm clueless about the process.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to get this figured out?

Well after scouting around for the right information, I believe I got it. This is the area I want to model. It's the former Coxton Yards in Pittston Pa. I'm not sure how big this route is but it a good start. Now I need to figure out how to work the editing tools.

There are some great RW tutorials on Youtube. Learning about track laying is where they help the most,it did for me,anyway.

Yes I found a couple videos tutorials that helped me out. I feel I still got a long way to go before I start (officially) laying down tracks.

Before you even start on your route, make sure you learn about setting up a route template (especially the start location), and about track rules. You can end up with a lot of problems if you start of wrongly (like I did) with the start location a degree or two out and with a track rule not really suited for what you are trying to achieve.

For most of the day I've been looking at video tutorials about track building. They sure do make it look easy on those tutorials. I seem to be having a hard time traveling around the layout to get the best point of view. I'll keep at it, it can only get easier as time goes on.
