Railworks.exe has stopped working - SOLVED

Unread postby Chacal » Fri Sep 27, 2013 11:00 pm

I'm posting this for people who search on this topic.
I found this on the trainsim.com forums.
The fix comes from RSC support.

I contacted Rail Simulator Support and they solved my problem, this is the fix.

Enter your games library on steam, right click on Train Simulator 2014, select properties, select general, select set launch options and enter -VC. Restart your PC.

This worked for me without restarting my PC.

But what does it do?

Good Morning:

I gave this a try and no joy.

Thanks for looking for a answer.

I must say that Rail Simulator support has been trying hard to help me, but so far have not come up with a solution to the problem.

I have tried the -VC in launch options, put all the Kuju assets from 2013 back in the file, installed the latest flash, and just did a complete uninstall and reinstall of 2014 and nothing has worked.

There are two separate problems that I am aware of relating to Railworks.exe not working with an updated installation of TS2014.

One is with Windows 8.1, which I think is the -VC fix in the launch options above.

I had the Railworks.exe not working because I had deleted Flash player from my previous setup (not wanting the annoying ever changing splash screens from RW3 - I guess it didn't hurt TS2013). The solution for mine, and it worked first time, was to install the latest Flash player - or the one provided with the sim.

Navigate to (Drive where Steam is installed):\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\Install where you will find Flash player "flashplayer11_5r502_110_winax". Double click to install.

Good luck.

Rod

Edit - just notice above that the Flash install didn't work for dick8299 - sorry!

On yet other posts, I read that it is the Flash player plugin for IE that needs to be installed.
More precisely, install_flash_player_11_active_x.exe from the Adobe web site.

Also the Flash player you mention is outdated and has security flaws.

Chacal,

Thanks for passing along the "-VC" tip. I had forgotten what format to use for an additional instruction but , after much fiddling, installed and restarted my PC to find the problem gone !*YAAA*!
I've not discovered any further problems with v2014 on any RSC routes or 3rd party! However, still a lot to check and haven't yet dealt with the .ap folders. Onwards and upwards!
By the way, this is a Win7 OS.
