Modern TOFC

Unread postby RAILSOHIO » Sun Sep 07, 2014 5:49 pm

I have done both a RWA ,and Google search to find modern Trailer on Flatcar. (Two long trailers on a single car). Is the BNSF SD 75 pack what the majority of people are using to get them? I saw that the original Rail Simulator had them, but I would have to re-install the disc, then attemp a legacy add-on,it seems. Just checking to see what the options are.

There are several nice TOFC freeware packs available on Trainsim.com. Search under Rail Simulator (not RailWorks) rolling stock.

Nice set of piggyback flats and trailers are included with the DTG Marias Pass route.

I think he's looking for equipment that's lettered. With real company names? !**conf**!
I could be wrong.

I am trying to determine what the majority of USA RW useres are using. If my route ever gets done,I would like the most easily accessable TOFC content. So soes it seem the Marias Pass cars are the same,or same mesh at least,as the SD 75 add-on? I did look at the RS ones on TrainSim,I may try to Download and install them. I have not purchased Marias, but I gather many do have it.

I just did a search and do not have the shape files for the 90 foot flatcar, though I have done every upgrade from RailSimulator to RW. So no go on using the old ones.

I had done a search for these early this year, and as Hanky said, there are some nice ones at TrainSim.com. The file library here has some really great repaints but IIRC I couldn't find the source trailers (I think they were from CA2K jet?) There may be some others out there as well, I'll try and remember to look later today. The older legacy Kuju default ones just kinda.......... disappeared............................... !*don-know!*

There are some older single 24' TOFC's in the VNHRR route.

So it seems the way to get the Flatcar_RTTX90 files is to buy Marias Pass ,the CN SD40-2 ,or the BNSF SD 75. The later one is just 7.99 through steam. Thanks,Chris, for your insight. When I look at the description on the BNSF SD 75 DLC page,it does not actualy list the 90 foot flatcar, the way it does on the CN SD 40-2 page. It appears to be visible in the distance in a screen shot. Can anyone verify, before I purchase it?

My primary interest is the Detroit,Toledo and Ironton, from Springfield to Ironton Ohio. Connecting routes include the B&O from Xenia to Washington Courthouse, the B&O from Midland to Chillicothe. The PRR from South Charleston to Xenia, and from Springfield to Xenia. And the N&W and C&O in Pike county,Ohio. I need TOFC to run the B&O "Trailer Jets",on the B&O/Chesssie.Even though the DT&I contains one of the most amazing stretches of railroading in the eastern US,I know there is little potential payware interest. So free it will be. Thanks or the verificating on the SD 75 pack. Off to the the Steam store.

The flats/pigs in the SD75 DLC, unless they have been patched (which I doubt), are rather inferior to those included with Marias Pass. Those included with the SD75 DLC have very spongy couplers which result in much "slack action" and rather crazy speedometer readings. The flats/trailers as appear in the Marias Pass route are also included with the UP SD60M DLC.

Well I have spent the last TWO HOURS trying to get the SD 75 pack to install. It has a time out at 80 percent that it will not pass. I have rebooted twice, and the program is unusable now. Steams help system is a mess. I have never had this much trouble with any update or DLC. I statted by doing a game cache verification, because the DLC would not install. Right now,I am really hating Steam.

Lots of folks seem to be having issues with Steam and TS2014 and/or new purchases and/ or verification. Over the past two weeks I have kept Steam turned off (not running-I leave my PC on 24/7 for other reasons) for three or more days at a time. When I do start Steam it always "updates" and takes forever, but it starts finally and all my games are fine. Maybe just leave Steam turned off for a few days. (don't uninstall it as others have done- that fuels the problem!)

I read the other thread about this problem. It took multiple times of deleting the Appmanifest file to get everything back to normal. I hope this problem is taken care of before the update on the 18th.
