US loco and asset AP file help.

Hi, i got the US loco and assets, and i want to change the train horn on the ES44AC and on the SD40-2, Now i don't know if its diffrent with a person using steam or not, but i use steam. and the US loco and assets became a AP file, how can i ungroup it or open it or whatever so i can change the train horn on the 2 locos.

Unpack the files from the .ap archive using the free 7zip utility.

well i got another problem. i changed the horn it it is still playing the defualt horn!, i changed the horn in the proxyXML file, added the new horn and then ran it through serz, idk whats wrong with it, anything else i need to do.
what i did.
added new horns in the es44 and sd40-2 cab folder,
went in the PROXYXML files for both and changed the name and .dav to .wav,
saved, closed then ran it throught serz.

After making your mods you have make a new ap file for them to work. Go to your extracted file which you made your mods in, in 7zip and click on the green plus sign. Name the new file the same as the default ap file and store your ap file in the same place as the default one. Hope this helps.

It should work without sending it back to the .ap. If there is a regular group of files outside the .ap the game will read them first, if these files are not present then it will use the .ap.

now, add the es44 and sd40 cab/folder whatever to the AP file, or add all the files extracted back into a AP file, (new AP file)

You should never add anything back into the .ap file. TS2014 reads the external files first and uses those. Changing the .ap file changes its CRC checksum and if Steam detects this has changed, will download the 'official' version for you and you will lose your changes.

Well, here's the only way I know how to do it. First open the ap file in 7zip and extract its assets folder to the Kuju US folder. Open the exacted folder and make your changes. After you have made your changes, move the ap file to a backup folder and zip your exacted assets folder as an ap file by using 7zip. Move your zipped ap file were the original was and it should work. There may be other ways to do it, but this is the only way I know.

I have another problem, ive been trying to fix the skin on the CSX GP15 reskin, i cant fix it, and now my game crashes when i try to make a new train consists. anything i can do?
