Amtrak switchers? We have a rapidly increasing roster of Amtrak equipment and three routes - but no switchers!!
Does Amtrak use them much for empty stock workings, maintenance work or marshalling consists? If so, what do they use mostly?

That doesn't really tell me how common or rare they are, sadly. Would you see many on the likes of the NEC, for instance? Thanks!

When I visited Washington in July last year I saw one or two puttering around moving coaches. I don't remember seeing any other ones on our trip up to New York City. I can only assume they wouldn't be working at NY Penn, but could possibly work at 30th Street or New Haven.
The one I saw was definitely working though, so I think even though they may not be common they're being used.

I took this from a Northeast Regional northbound last June. This is just south of the New Haven station.

There are a fair amount of switchers and Geeps in New Haven.
