Old RSC fictional routes to be released for free

Unread postby Chacal » Fri Feb 21, 2014 8:31 pm

Saw this on the STeam forums:

The decision was also taken not to make anymore fictional routes which is why they vanished too. It is the same issue [as TestTrak].
Meanwhile older "classic" routes are coming to Workshop for free starting with the release of:

Hedborough North
Seebergbahn
Castle Rock Railroad
Over the hill and gathering speed

Not sure what you mean by that. I got Cajon Pass and Sherman Hill with my copy of TS2013 and Donner Pass with TS2014.

He's talking about people who purchase Train Simulator 2014 for the first time.

True, I think there is no default route now. This is why they sell the US assets pack separately.
You get the game, plus whatever route and assets are in the bundle currently offered.

I don't know if Castle Rock used to be free, I know I had to download it as separate DLC. It was never a default route for me.
The default at the time was Cajon Pass.

So the good news now is Csstle Rock will be free.

Oh. I misunderstood what he was referring to. With Castle Rock coming to the workshop there will probably be some new scenarios for it.

Donner is and always was a payware route.

Donner is one of the "current" default routes in this year's RW, i.e. TS2014 so "new" customers buying into the game for the first time effectively get it free.

Any chance the OP can link to the actual post on Steam? Is this an official DTG post or otherwise? To proclaim "no more fictional routes" slams the door on quite a number of possibilities, including their own specials such as last year's Christmas route!

Poster is DTG_Admin.

Notice that he's talking about DTG not making any more fictional routes, not partners.
Also I don't think this would include the Christmas special. It's a different kind of product altogether.
