Best scenario for add-ons?

Unread postby ConrailHeritage » Wed Nov 27, 2013 8:15 am

Just wondering, I have sherman hill, but I have found no reskins for it. So what route should I buy that has lots of repaints on railworks? Thanks.

Think a little outside-of-the-box on this stuff. Don't think about what route per se, but what engines you should get. Most routes come with very little rolling stock, maybe an engine and some cars. Odds are you will find a lot of repaints for the engines you buy. Grab the Heritage packs if you can, I think they are on sale. That's over 20 (if I remember correct) different engines in Heritage livery. Then use the "drive by engine" in the TS2014 Drive menu to swap engines into the routes you have. or use "Bpetit's" tutorial in the section at the top of the main page here. It's easy.

Cajon is a good suggestion, it does come with some good rolling stock and engines. Browse thru the Steam sale, click on a route, it will tell you what equipment is included, as well as how many scenarios. Plus there are hundreds of scenarios in the Steam Workshop, free, but most require that you already own the needed "stuff".

Well, I got Cajon Pass, The NS Heritage, The California Zephyr, The SD70 pack, and the two asset packs(even though I didn't buy them) Now I'm wondering, what is the NEW TS2014 tutorial to repainting? Also, i cant find out where my Cajon pass engines are, so I need to know where they are before I repaint them. Thanks.

This is the "swap engine" tutorial I had mentioned here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9962

The repaint tutorial here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9904

You picked a good time, actually, with the fall sale, and the big Christmas sale coming up. Lots of routes and rolling stock will be on sale cheap!

Well, I cant find the directory mentioned here: http://www.railworksamerica.com/forum/v ... =18&t=9904 Or at least, I can't find the xml file. I can only find these when I look at other people's work (and I dont want to upload copyright stuff).

Here is what I find:

But for all the other help, Thank you very much.

You will need to open the bin file with either serz (which is in your main RailWorks folder) or get TWTools and open it there to do editing. The serz will create the xml file.

Thanks with this, thought it seemed familiar.

Well, did that, but now I cant find which file has the graphics to edit! I do know how to open the .tgpcdx folders and turn them into bmp files, however I have open all of the ones in the Engine folder, and haven't found the right one! (btw, I'm using the NS Savannah Heritage Unit for my model)

You are wandering far off the subject here but this is one of the best tutorials out there. If you want to go into this further I suggest you head over to the rolling stock forum or somewhere that a good thresh can be started on this subject.

Cajon Pass is a old Kuju item, so the engines are in the Kuju Folders.

Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailsimulatorUSAssets.ap\RailVehicles\Diesel

If you don't already have it, you will need something like 7-Zip to open the .ap file.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.
