Chacal

I reported my scenario save issue to RailSimulator Tech Support and so far have only received a form email response. I will let everyone know if I get a proper response.

OK, I know a lot of TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms), but CDT escapes me as it relates to TS2014 (I know it's not Central Daylight Time). A bit of enlightenment might be in order? Once I get an answer it'll be a !DUH! moment, I'm sure!

Thanks !*cheers*!

I have run the Putnam-bsb-Mojave-Trona with out problems. I was to access the scenario editor to add rolling stock.

I think the general consensus so far it that freeware routes that rely heavily on the old Kuju folders, notably KujuRailSimulatorUS pose the most problems in getting them to run.
The delivery of former default assets in the new .ap format breaks dependencies of essential files like trackrule blueprints, repaints and other altered assets.

Make sure you can edit the route, before starting a scenario. If you can edit the route, the route asset collection is presumably OK.
Then start with a simple scenario that uses only default stock and proceed from there.

Problems continue to get worse! Only four routes can be run (Maria Pass, NEC, Sherman Hill, and Donner Pass). No european routes or 3rd party routes. Kuju folder was restored and all files verify. Cajon Pass originally ran but no longer. Most of the original routes provided by RSC are not high demand routes and should run.
Even wth all the speculation as to the cause, this is a RSC problem and they need to fix it.

Have you tried to run LogMate and see where it hangs? I was just getting a freeze and when I ran out of patience it would say that Railwhatever.exe quit working. Is that the message you are getting?

Almost the opposite to my experience. I am running third party heavy demand routes in with all my assets whereas before I could not even dream of it.

Not sure if you have done so but is it worth starting with a completely fresh copy of the sim and seeing what loads and then add in stuff.

From my experience the sim can now handle much larger asset loads. I have loaded as a test a few scenarios |I have not seen for a couple of years so your experience seems very odd.

Apologies if you have already covered this.

Starting with a fresh install is obviously the best choice. JamesPhh, Buzz, Ol'Pint me and many others have kept the same install since RW2 and subsequently had Steam update it.

If all troubleshooting fails, rename your Railworks folder into Railworks_fail and have Steam spool in a fresh copy with all your DLC. That should work right out of the box, or after one or two rounds of verification.

Then make up your mind as to which of the old routes you really want to install and install them from their original packages. Make sure NOT TO OVERWRITE any of the new core assets in the Kuju folders !!!
Then start Railworks and try to edit that route. If you can edit it, the Kuju dependencies have probably been satisfied as far as the actual route goes.
Fire up a standard scenario using default stock only, or whip up a simple free roam using a new RSC Diesel engine and explore the route for milkbottles, indicating missing assets.
Then add more scenario's, repaints etc. one at a time. Troubleshoot them with LogMate running (which takes a good while when many assets are called, alas).

RW_Tools v5 WIP is out, perhaps it will help you also.

I have the impression Railworks is doing more thorough asset integrity checking, so what works today might not work tomorrow. Until we know what is going on, your mileage will vary.

When in doubt, RTFM and then ask the board for help and advice. No install is the same, so a general FAQ per route is probably useless.
