Also try running this:
- In LogMate, clear the logs by using File/Clear logs
- Exit the scenario, causing a CTD
- find new errors in the logs.

Ok, quick update on what happened...........

TS2014 crashing on startup, dumped all the files in the "routes" folder to drive D.

Started TS2014, noted it actually started up, got to the main menu, noted no routes to drive on (expected). Went to settings, cleared cache, exited game.

Verified cache in Steam, noted a pile of files failed to verify. 1.2 gigs coming down the pike. Went to bed (gotta sleep sometime).

Morning, about 5:30 AM, noted download was done, started game. Heard a warning noise from Windows (was "Failed to create Direct X device" but game started up anyway). Noted all routes were there again.

On minimal graphics settings, tested one route after another for a few minutes each, free camera floating around to see if it would crash.

Exit to main menu on each route successful EXCEPT Eastern Lines of Scotland; the route will load and runs ok but will CTD on exit from the scenario I was in. Sorry, didn't have the logmate running, but I'll have to test that out tonight (yes, have to go to work in order to pay for all this stuff). !!bang!!

At least its running again. Will test with the logmate tonight. You know you have someone really determined to get this fixed when they get up at 5:30 AM to play with trains. !DUH!

Run the verify operation again, until all files verify.

Update: Tried to run TS with logmate running last night. Upon attempted start-up, the entire PC froze during the "help tips" while loading the scenario (one of the Scotland route scenarios, since those were seeming to be the ones causing most of my issues now). Only way out of that lock-up was control-alt-delete and start again.

Went to a different route, loaded fine, exited fine. Tried two others, same thing (it never happens when you want it to). Revolution was coming on, so I decided to exit and verify the files, as you suggested and come back to it after the show was over. I couldn't start the verification process as the HD was working like crazy. Noticed a download was coming in (8.3 megs in size bound for TS2014, so I let it finish. Once done, started the verification. After the show was done I checked and "all files verified properly".

On a hunch, I started TS again, set the graphics for "default" (fairly high) in an attempt to force a CTD. While I didn't try the Scotland route, everything, including free roam and quick drive on at least four other routes worked perfectly, no CTD, glitches, lags, etc.

I'll try the West Lines of Scotland route on the "default" graphics settings tonight. I believe that may have actually been what was "re-downloaded" by Steam last night, but it may have been an update to TS itself, since it seems to be chugging happily away when it was TS2013. If it does do a CTD tonight when I give it another run, is there any specific tab of info I should post? I noted there are a bunch of things and would rather save reading space by not posting unnecessary data.

Actually, I'm hoping it fails to CTD. I'd rather this thing resolve itself and play nice like TS2013 eventually did.

Too long for one post so I'll have to split it up..............

Ok, update: Ran a few tests last night on multiple routes, "default" graphic settings. Every route works perfectly now except the Lines of Scotland; still having graphics issues. I can actually get any of them to run but only if my graphic settings are at medium.

I set them a tad high on purpose, and sure enough, started a scenario, waited about 10-15 seconds, exited the scenario and boom - CTD. Here's the report from logmate. Not sure what's needed, so sorry if it's a bit long-winded.

------------continued on part two--------------

-----------------part two-------------------

Run Time Error (I left the spacing as-is in case that's important)
------------------
Assertion failed

Skipped Rail Vehicle Manager and Camera

Hope all that helps somehow. I'll try running some more on that route and see just how far I can nudge the graphics settings up. All other routes are at 100 "default" graphic settings now.

I swear I'll get this back to "normal" like TS2013 if it kills me. *!greengrin!*

Nothing obvious comes to mind.
I don't see anything that explains a crash.
A lot of missing files, maybe check the route with RW-Tools,

I was noticing a number of missing files as well. I will continue re-verifying like I did with the other routes bringing the graphics up a little bit each time. BTW, I'll snip out a bunch of the text from those two posts due to their length now that you've had a chance to look at them.
