Where have the PROXYXML files gone?

Where have the PROXYXML files gone?

Unread postby engineerbj » Wed Nov 13, 2013 10:34 pm

I like to use custom horn sounds for the default US diesels, the ES44, the F7, and the SD40, and my add on Pennsy F7 and Geep for the Horseshoe curve, as well as my UP Big Boy. This requires me to go into the PROXYXML files and change the dav files to wav files to accommodate the new horn sounds. Since the changeover to 2014, I've found that the files are gone from their old locations, but the horns and other sound effects still function, so what's up?

I'm a little hacked off, to tell the truth, for I liked my custom sounds, sounded a lot better than what was there in most cases, but now I can't use them, and I suspect Steam and RSC are messing with me for fiddling with "their" software.

Anyway, and assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, everyone,

Best Regards,
Brendan O.

Using RW_Tools v5.0.32, you can easily extract the files and apply your custom sounds again.

Would you mind explaining how to do that, step by step? The last thing I want to do it mess something up due to ignorance or incompetence on my part. Editing PROXYXML's is easy, but I get the feeling getting into the .ap's is going to be a bit harder....

Just run 7zip on the .ap files and they will extract to look like the ones you are used to seeing. They are just a zipped file.
