How Do I Copy Over Some Tracks.bin files?

Unread postby Ericmopar » Sat Sep 28, 2013 10:29 pm

I used to just copy over my Tracks.bin files from backup to some routes after some updates, to fix track errors I had previously fixed.
Now I can't get into the .ap files...

*.ap files are nothing more than renamed zips. You should be able to open using WinZip or other 3rd-party compression tool.

Well...
I went and downloaded 7-Zip free and I can open the .ap file to see whats in them, but I can't copy and paste or drag my backups into those opened .ap files.
Any ideas? This is new to me so a person might have to elaborate some. Don't assume I know some common step/s. :D

Don't modify the .ap files. Do this:
1- Using 7Zip, open the ap file and extract the tracks.bin file to where it's supposed to be.
For example, from railworks\Content\Routes\00000032-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\MainContent.ap you would extract tracks.bin to
railworks\Content\Routes\00000032-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\Networks.

2- Replace this extracted Tracks.bin file with your own file. The game will automatically use it instead of the one inside the .ap file.
