Youtube music -help!!

Unread postby Csxgp38-2 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 8:13 pm

Hi all, I need a legal way to take the intro music from a 1940s railroad promotional film, I plan to use it not for profit, for a school video on railroads and want the intro to feel old timey. Can anyone help?

Copyright laws aren't that strict. Just grab whatever you want from the net or whatever and try not to make millions of dollars using it.

I'm not sure how, and I wouldn't want to because the quality would be crap wouldn't it? Do you have i-tunes? You could find out what the name of the song is and download it. Failing that, you could use the recorder that comes with Windows and play the video whilst recording. I did that to make MSTS sounds for a NZ locomotive that I found a video on Youtube of years ago. Could work !*don-know!*

It's possible to download a video from YouTube using a plugin like RealPlayer and then extract the audio from the video with VLC. See this page: http://www.ghacks.net/2011/07/15/how-to ... ia-player/

If you use Firefox you can get an add-on for it called DownloadHelper, which lets you download YouTube videos. You can then play them with VLC Player.
That's how I watch what few YouTube videos I do watch, since I refuse to install Flash Player. *!greengrin!*
