Windows 24H2

Update:add context and added information.
I have been seeing a few issues with upcoming Windows version 24H2 being discussed on tech websites. One definite issue is a BSOD with certain M.2 drives. Western Digital has updates for the affected drives. So far non of my Samsung drives have updates pending. I would suggest that "get the latest updates as soon as they're available" be turned off in the Windows settings. This allows you to select only the updates that you wish to install. Also suggested, that management software for your brand of M.2 drives be installed. The updates to the drives can be downloaded and installed through the management software. Be sure that you research to see if the issues are solved prior to installation of 24H2.

I got my first update today. I have 3 computers, but only 1 got it. I read that Micro$oft is releasing them by what hardware you have. I have not seen any problems so far. I know I have no Western Digital drives, so I am not too concerned. I will let you know if a problems occurs, when I get updates for the other 2 computers. Take Care, Stefan

23H2 here. It will probably take about 6 months for me to get 24H2 like it did for the previous version which I got on 26/6/2024.

Normally you do not have to wait that long.

From the interwebs . . .

To upgrade to Windows 11 22H2 manually from Windows Update, use these steps:

1. Open Settings on Windows 11.
2. Click on Windows Update.
3. Turn on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle switch.
4. Click the “Check for updates” button.
5. Click the “Download and install” button to install Windows 11 24H2.
6. Click the Restart now button.[/list]

FYI: It is not working that way. Like I said earlier they are doing it with regard to to hardware configurations. I tried that method on my computers that did not upgrade right away, and got nothing but security updates etc...

Good thing you did. Security updates are important !

i guess they changed it, too bad. For Windows questions I normally go to elevenforum.com , if you really want it that would be my first place to ask.

FYI I am still on 22H2 also and ran PC Health Check and it says that TPM 2.0 is installed and enabled and yet when I run the update it says it's all up to date..................the usual Microsoft cluster.

Some of these updates are dependent on previous updates. This is why it is important to be current.
Go to Windows/settings/Windows update/ Update History and check to see if KB5031455 is installed. If not installed, check to see if it is in Advanced Options/Optional Updates.
