Not sure if this is the right place but:
I have a number of files with the suffix .cost or .tgt and I don't know whether I can delete them or should leave them as I don't know what purpose they have.
examples (from Great Northerner assets) : gsc-flatcar.GeoPcDx.cost, gsc-flatcar.GeoPcDx.cost.tgt, gsc-flatcar.GeoPcDx.tgt
Anyone know what they are for?

I don't know their purpose but I have gotten rid of them in the past with no ill effects.

They're leftovers from the export process. You should be able to delete them all without any issues.
