Check your Windows settings update and security and it shows you if your computer is Windows 11 ready.

So my two year old MSI gaming laptop is not compatible nor is my homebuilt with a six month old MO board. What the heck does Micro crap expect us to do? Everyone go out and buy a new computer? I think not. This will be a bigger bomb than Vista.

Why are they not compatible. My nearly one-year-old computer wasn't until I turned on TPM 2.0 in the bios.

i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz is not compatible. On my laptop.

None of my four computers have any on the list. If Micro crap thinks I am going to go out and replace four computers for them they are nuts and I think most who haven't updated in the last few months are going to be in the same boat. By the way three of my four machines have TRM.

Article in the Wall Street Journal this morning.

Besides, I’ve come to the conclusion that Windows 11 is mostly about Microsoft MSFT -0.50% and its hardware partners selling more computers, not about giving your current one a new lease on life."

PC ownership and sales to private individuals are on the decline, for years already. Handheld devices are sufficient and more convenient for 95% of users, gamers still buy top of the range PC's, spending thousands $$$$, when they aren't playing on consoles already.

Windows Phone phlopped, don't know about XBox vs PlayStation, but wouldn't be surprised if MS has the smaller user base in the consoles too. Apple iPhone, iPad, iMac still going strong, rising in ownership most likely.

Businesses lease their laptops and desktops nowadays and will replace their entire stock, however, refurbished business computers cannot run W11. Free Linux distributions are completely adequate for 99,5% of home users who do not play games.

None of my gear passes the test, but I am not inclined to replace it just for MS's sake of having the latest all dancing and singing operating system.

MS will most likely back down and lessen/easen up requirements when businesses and consumers start to outrage.

Looks like Microsoft released a work around to upgrade to Windows 11. It will still require TPM 1.2 but most chips and Motherboards have it they say,

My computer is 10 months old and is compatible.

Well good for you. None of the CPU's in my rigs are on the list.

Not surprised that my computers aren't compatible. One is 13 years old and the other a mere 5 years old. I have no plans to buy a new PC.

What I use my PCs for:

Running TS2022
Printing emails (because Outlook for Android lacks that capability)

I use an Android tablet and phone for just about anything else I need to do. Even those are "old" by technology standards, but they work.

I have paid little attention to Windows 11 since I found out that I can't run it on my current hardware.

6 months down the track Buzz456 will be running Window 11. If I recall you said something similar when Windows 10 came out and you won't be using it or are you still using Windows 7.

I sometimes wish I hadn’t changed from Win 7, it seems I had fewer problems then but maybe that’s like all memories - best left as just that, memories.

Wasn't Windows 7 basically an upgraded version of XP?
