I'm back in power

My PSU asploded two months ago. It was an 8-year-old Xtreme3 1000W full modular (meaning all cables have plugs on both ends), cost me a fortune in 2009 but I was flush at the time. I finally found a reconditioned EVGA 850W full modular I could afford.

Naively I was figuring a full-modular PSU would be a drop-in replacement, just plug back the cables and you're good.
Turns out there's no standard for the PSU end of the cables. NONE of them was the same as the old one. NONE.

In 2009 I had spent hours building this PC. All cables were snaked through proper channels, secured with 9473 tie-wraps.
Now I had to spend hours disassembling the case, removing video cards, replacing each cable, building new power adapters for fans.
The case is black. The insides are black. The cables are black. The tie-wraps are black. Everything is black. I had to put up construction lamps all around.

Anyway I'm finally up and running, but if you plan to change your modular PSU don't expect to just drop the new one in.

You are right about no standard for PSU cables. The power cable going to my Asus GTX 960 has the clip on the wrong side for the socket on the card. I'm hoping that one day it won't vibrate out. Mind you it has been there for nearly 3 years.
